When checking in I couldn’t really understand the guys English and he would talk in Japanese under his breath. He was so rude. My bathroom smelled like pure urine. They sent housekeeping to clean it and it still smelled like pure urine. The toilet was extremely old. Paint was chipped on furniture. I asked to make a lunch reservation in their igloos and was denied because I was only 1 person. For breakfast at Oktoberfest The check making the egg totally ignore me when I asked for my eggs to be cooked on both sides. When the eggs were finally cooked he waa only allowing me to take one egg, mind you this was an all you can eat that I paid for. As a person that went to college for Hotel & Restaurant Management this is unacceptable. I paid a lot of money to stay there and flew from very far away to be treated like this and have my bathroom sell of urine.

We picked this property because it is at the base of the ski area and we were not disappointed. What we were surprised by was the amusement park theme with a carousel, village mock ups, and animatron figures singing! It was a real experience! Multiple dining choices, great gym, and beautiful views. Great place to stay if skiing Rusutsu!

Pros: - nice and spacious room, with a comfortable bed - ski-in/out - free ski locker is provided, so you don't have to lug your gear up to and down from your room. - free hot spring Cons: - no thermostat in the room (you can't control the temp) - some of the restaurants were closed with no reasons given, although there were still a fair number of choices left.

The Rusutsu Resort Hotel is a well-oiled machine - all the staff are polite, helpful and they are used to moving lots of people at once. Rooms are clean and reasonably large for Japan. The rooms and facilities are dated; it feels very 90s. Main areas could use a refresh, especially the carpeting in the hallways. Expect to have to walk a lot to get anywhere: to your room, to the ski locker, to restaurants, to the ski hill. Could be really noisy depending on your room’s proximity to the elevators as lots of people constantly moving about. We tried breakfast (included) at different spots; service again impeccable but the food wasn’t anything special. Restaurants on site are very expensive; resort pricing in full effect here. Try to make reservations at the smaller restaurants off site for better value.

Perfect location for easy (ski in/out) access to Rusutsu ski area. Large range of restaurants to choose from as well as easy access to Westin via monorail. Belle Vue steak and seafood restaurant a standout for something a bit more special - higher end but definitely worth it. Rooms large and easily accommodating 4 in single beds. Novelty factor for younger kids with games area, a free Carousel and other entertainment.

Loved our stay here! We did ski in/ ski out and everything was so convenient and well thought out. We were here over the holidays and they had so many activities planned for people who didn't want to ski. It's a great family friendly place with lots to do and see. So many different eating options and bars. It made it so fun to explore the resort and neighboring hotels. Fun little shops to get souvenirs. Loved every minute of it. The Christmas program was wonderful! Go for the holidays if you can!

The resort location is excellent and very convenient, everything else was a disappointment. The toilet had a persistent bad smell. I requested housekeeping to clean it, but the odor remained, making the bathroom unpleasant to use. To make matters worse, the bed also had an unpleasant odor — it smelled like a child had wee on the bed, it is unbearable! For a hotel, basic cleanliness and comfort should be a priority, and this experience fell far below expectations. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place!

The resort was perfect for skiing at Rusutsu. The mountain was perfect, especially for early season skiing. The ski locker situation was ideal - lockers for every room, short walk to the first lift. Great restaurant options ~10 in the immediate area. Highly recommend this place.

Pleasant but…

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. My children enjoyed the free rides on the carousel & swimming in the resort’s pool. The only disappointment we have was the limited choices of food/restaurants available; there was only one or two restaurants that were open & the prices were ridiculous. Most of the guests ended up going across the road to Seico & 711 to buy microwave meals. We would consider coming back if the food situation improves.

Food options were very limited as skiing had not quite opened yet (despite saying it would be—was not quite enough snow yet by end of November). Facility in good but not perfect condition. Onsen was a highlight!

Quiet and full of activities

Generally pleasant stay, room is spacious and clean. The hotel is part of an amusement park complex, so there are many activities.
