There weren’t many guests when we stayed here and the property appears to be family owned and run. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived and we blindly walked into the back which looked like someone’s home kitchen. No one spoke English there and they all looked at us blankly like we walked into their home 😆 They called out to someone we are assuming is their son upstairs to help us check in. The son seemed reluctant to deal with hotel guests, however he was still polite. The hotel room is spacious and clean, and includes air conditioning. However, there is no ac in the lobby areas, and the lights are always turned off. If you leave your room and go downstairs, you need to feel for the lights to turn them on, on your way down. We are assuming they are conserving energy.
The hotel provides a delicious breakfast and at first when we asked if they had a shuttle to the train station they said they didn’t, but seemed to have a change of heart and called out their son to drive us. On our way there, the rain quickly turned to thunderstorm and we were so grateful for the ride. We tried to offer them money for the ride, but they wouldn’t take it.
In the beginning, we were unsure about the hotel and service here, but we think they usually host local travelers and rarely guests that don’t speak Vietnamese. We realize this is a small town compared to Hanoi and this family run hotel is doing their best and conserving energy when they can 😄
