It was okay
Pros:
The hotel itself is in a brilliant location with fantastic views.
The staff really make this place, they are very friendly and helpful.
The room we stayed in was very big, so we had lots of room to move around
Cons:
Beds were really uncomfortable
Breakfast was absolutely chaos, the poor staff were absolutely run off their feet trying to get everything sorted. I think it had to do with that breakfast ended at 9:15 so there was a giant rush from everyone and I think there had been a wedding or party the night before so it was so busy and hard for the staff to keep up as there seemed so few of them for so many numbers. We ended up going elsewhere to get another breakfast.
The rooms seem a bit tired although they were very clean, it just felt a bit sad and little details like the TV being in a weird place on the wall when you sit in bed.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and his place could be absolutely fantastic with just a few changes.
Reasonable hotel, the evening meal food was excellent & sensibly priced but the breakfast needs addressing. The bar area seating was fully reserved for the locals for the entertained, which when you're paying near to £100.00 a night to stay is not acceptable. The rooms are reasonably spacious, but need to be updated to bring the furnishings & decor into the 1970s.
We booked two rooms for one night . We we're given an upgrade for one room which we didn't ask for but thought that was a nice gesture. We then asked if we could keep one of the rooms for a late check out till 12am usual check out was 10 30. We were then charged an extra twenty pounds so that paid for our so called upgrade. The rooms were freezing need upgraded the bed was small lumpy and uncomfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant. The starters were lovely prawn cocktails and liver pate. I had ribeye steak which was cooked very well. But the menu said roast chicken but unfortunately the chicken was boiled it was hard and stringy and the white sauce was tasteless. The cod loin was served cold on a cold plate. Very disappointing to say the least. We had ordered bacon and sausage rolls for our return from our funeral and again these were not up to a decent standard. The bacon and sausages were cold. I worked in the food and beverage industry and know how hard it is but you can't be charging people's hard earned cash and give them sub standard services.
A great hotel, lovely staff in a lovely area.
We were woken very early by smokers outside the windows.
Breakfast was a waste of money as such poor vegan options

A little bit of home
Our regular hotel when visiting family, it feels like a family. The views are stunning, not a “plush” hotel, but comfortable, friendly and we would recommend it.
Accidental date selection booking and inability to change dates meant unable to stay mainly due to uk.hotels.com website being impossible to change dates
Had a lovely stay here for my birthday room was a lovely size with a great view. Breakfast perfect and the lady doing front of house was very friendly and helpful.
All the staff we met were friendly and helpful will definitely be back
quirky hotel with lovely views ( ours was over the Tyne we watched the DFDS ferry come in. Large windows. Large room ( junior suite 201) The room was a little dated but we didn't mind because it was clean and had a bath- a great addition for after cold water swimming. Electric heater- simple and efficient.
My partner and I were in the Admiral Collingwood penthouse and like all penthouse accommodation this did not disappoint absolutely wonderfully positioned. Sit out on the balcony to the east to watch the sun come up and reset at the end of the day by watching the sun set in the west.
