Hotel a bit tired looking
On check in and out staff weren’t overly friendly
Carpet in the room was wet near bed, hoping just a spillage but no idea what it could have been
Hallway smelt damp
Car park was full, and had to park a 10 minute walk away, up a very steep hill. This hotel is absolutely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, young children or anyone who doesn’t like hiking!
Hotel was fine but I d say more suited to friends coming to Newcastle on a night out. This was our experience staying on a Saturday night. It was noisy for most of the night groups of friends coming back from pubs and clubs, singing, shouting and carrying on their night back in their rooms. If you are travelling with family or a light sleeper I d probably say to avoid at the weekends. We don’t have a problem with it as we only stayed for 1 night and it was cheap. We did notice a difference when we have paid a bit more in the same area though. Parking is a bit of a nightmare, the car park is tiny for the size of the hotel. Avoid the Baltic car park as it costs a fortune. We parked at Gateshead College about a 10 minute walk away which cost £8 for 24 hrs.
Overall stay was ok. At night we were interrogated like criminals.
I appreciate it is new castle and hotel was full of teenagers and above coming for night out. But when you see a family, approach should be slightly different. When shown keys and given room number and confirmed name, they didn’t need to ask my wife her name and my son his name.
That was little OTT and embarrassing, as I wasn’t sure what they were trying to achieve from it.

Liked: Cleanliness
The seal on the window in our room was awful and allowed in a draft and noise. On the windiest night, the curtains were moving despite being heavy and the wind was very loud.
Our bathroom had insufficient toilet roll for three people. The paintwork was streaked and showed a handprint and the bath panel was rusty.
Reception desk staff were unwelcoming, robotic and cold except for one member.
The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient although there was no gluten free bread on Sunday.
The rooms could do with lighting above the main room mirror - the bathroom lighting was not suitable for applying makeup.
Clean. Great view from this room which we paid more for. The city is easily walkable.
Arrived late on Friday 28th March at around 9.15pm was met with a rather curt stressed gentleman at hotel reception that was after a long wait for him to arrive at Reception,Then asked him the quickest way across the river to which he replied sarcastically "Over the big Purple Bridge".Clearly a man not enjoying his job or day.
As for the room it was clean and well presented however the room and bathroom showed signs of age and in need of a spruce up decorativally speaking,Bathroom door was shredded and so was the bath panel walls a little grubby and in need of a new coat of paint.Other than Mr Happy on Reception had very little interaction if any with remainder of staff during our 2 night stay.
Lastly we could not park in Hotel Car Park Parked in Private Car Park next door which cost me £57.00 from Friday Night at 21.15hrs to 11am on Sunday Morning which the Hotel Could have advised us on but did not.Which was very disappointing.
