I really liked the shuttle service to the local airport. However, I did not lack the poor housekeeping efforts. This was an early Christmas trip for my daughter and I. The first night was fine and I requested housekeeping upon checkin. The following day after touring NYC, we returned to our room around 9 pm to find our room had not been cleaned. The melted water was still in my ice bucket, the tea, cups,and sugar had not been replenished, the bed was half-made and there was no soap to wash our bodies. There was no ice in the machine on the 7th floor nor and the vending machine was sold out for the entirety of our stay. As you can imagine we were disappointed and extremely frustrated. The Front Office Manager, Medina Catwell, advised me to contact Expedia for a refund. It has been almost a week and I have yet to be compensated for this huge inconvenience to my family. I keep getting the run around from both parties.

Got here at 3, checked in early, they sent us to the wrong room(4th floor instead of top floor). Go back down she lets me know they are out of the room I reserved 3 months ago. Wound up getting a room after 1.5 hrs, she tells me the room #, went up and the cleaning lady was just getting to the room no one told her anyone was going to occupy the room. Go back downstairs and turns out she told me the wrong room number. This is beyond ridiculous. We got here early to make sure everything went well and it was the complete opposite.

We tried really hard to not complain and enjoy our trip, but this property was terrible. The staff was extremely rude, we found several bugs in our room, hairs left all over the shower wall, dirty towels left under the vanity, shuttle to and from the airport was tiny so we often had to wait. We couldn’t wait to check out and go home.

Unfortunately, this was our first time at this place and wouldn’t come back. The rooms were never cleaned, beds not make, towels never changed. The tiles on the bathroom’s floor are all elevated making it a risk for a fall. My husband was there for a week and is disabled from his back. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I was very disappointed with my experience. Throughout the evening, there were over 10 teenagers running around in the hallways, creating a lot of noise and disruption. It was nearly impossible to relax or enjoy any sense of peace during my stay. To make matters worse, at 8:23 AM the next morning, housekeeping knocked on my door twice. Since I didn’t respond, they used their key to open the door without my consent. This was an alarming violation of my privacy and completely unacceptable. While the hotel may have potential, these issues seriously impacted my stay. I hope management takes action to address these concerns for future guests.

You got my money. I got zip.
I booked the room that was for Wednesday the 9th, but when I got there they said I had no reservation and no available rooms. I said I know I booked it. No answer. So I had to book a different hotel that night. When I checked the hotels.com app I saw it was booked for Sunday the 13th. The room I picked was non-refundable. So I picked two other dates that I knew I would need a room in that area and tried to change the reservation to one of those dates. For both of them the app said no rooms were available in that hotel. I called the hotel and they said sure, we have plenty of rooms. When I asked them about changing the date they said it could only be done through you. So they gave me an 800 number to try and call you I did try….and was on hold for over two hours until I just gave up. Now I’m sure I did something wrong when first booking the room at the Doubletree Newark, but not being able to change the reservation either through your app or over the phone was incredibly frustrating. Congrats. You got my money…. …..last….time…..ever.

I'm a regular, still a good stay
Well i've been here many times, and this was not the best. Wasn't the worst though. Had to switch rooms, but they handled that quickly because they knew they had too. Housekeeping also skipped me, had to ask again and leave my room again to get it cleaned. Big bonus was the EV chargers on site. That alone might have me booking with them again.
