The photos online didn't match what we found. The rooms were smaller and older than the way they looked online. The rooms smelled really really weird and musty, and the furniture was outdated. It wasn't at all what I was expecting.

I stayed here during a business trip to Columbia University. It was convenient - just a 10-minute subway or taxi ride away. The subway is only a block away. My room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was good. However, the elevators were slow during busy times. I recommend a room on a lower floor, so you can use the stairs if necessary.

Although we had a view of walls, the room was fine. Good space and the bathroom was nicely redone. The bottom drawer to the bedroom table wouldn't stay shut and I not only left a note taped to keep it closed, but, noted it to management.

Great NYC find

I was so pleasantly surprised how wonderful this hotel was. Staff were particularly kind and helpful. While an older hotel it was impeccably clean and well kept. The room was very quiet, black-out shades were ideal. The doorman was an unexpected plus. Very close to 79th st subway stop.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Lucerne. It was in the perfect location. We were able to get to the subway very easily. Great restaurants in the area. We felt very safe. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Manhattan.
