It was a pretty small room. The bed took up the whole room. There was no microwave. A little disappointed about that.

POOR SERVICE- ready to SCAM you out of cash!

Check-in was a mess. First, someone called me from the hotel about 130 p.m., demanding that I tell them when I would be arriving or my room would be canceled. I flew there only to be told by the desk guy that he didn't call and must have been the manager. THEN, he wouldn't let us check in because it wasn't 3 p.m., and he said he would charge me $30 per person to check in early! SCAM!!!! they should not participate in HOTELS.com , they dont want those rates and try to get $$ from customers on site!!

Very clean, bed was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. I don’t think this a very nice part of town and would have been very uncomfortable going outside at night to find a restaurant.

A few things would've made this stay better..Breakfast would've been nice, a chair for the desk in my room, a clean tub without moldy edges, actual shower gel in the bathroom.. this honestly gave me Motel vibes.

The bathroom smelled like mildew. There was no breakfast in the basement only the appliance but never food. There is a 100 dollar deposit you must pay in cash that Expedia doesn’t tell you about. The hotel was alright but stains on curtains and stuff just was old. It’s a nice hotel if you’re there for a quick stay but honestly you can find better

Essence Hotel at JFK does not look like the photo.

This is not a photo of the rooms. The carpet was dirty and smelled bad. No one was at the front desk and we waited over 20 min before someone came down, they had cameras and I know they saw us waiting in the lobby. The bathtub had mold around the sides. The room smelled stale. Would not stay there again.
