Beautiful old hotel, charming desk attendant. Room was nice and clean. Mattress to bed however, seemed old and lumpy. Full sized pillows would have been nice. Overall a nice stay, however!

The hotel St James was very close to Times Square. Easy walk to anywhere and anything you wanted to do. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful

Basic hotel with no amenities really, but great historical vibe, clean, and very friendly staff. Can’t beat the location a block from Times Square.

Loved this hotel! Super convenient in Mid-Manhattan with attractions all around. The walls were a bit thin, so you can hear everything. Other than that, I’ll definitely book again!

My husband and I came across this hotel last year when booking our trip. We immediately fell in love with the hotel's classy, old timey vibe. The front desk folks are always extremely nice and make you feel like you're an old friend come to visit. When my sister and I planned our girl's trip with my 10 and 11yr old daughters this year, I immediately booked this hotel. My family loved it as mich as I did and they can't wait to go back!!

This place is awesome. The location is perfect. It is clean and mostly quiet. The service is great. There is no view but who cares. Ice and microwave in the lobby. Highly recommended!!!

JUST a step above a hostel.

Hotel St James is just a step above a hostel. It was an OK stay and I’m sure the price reflects the convenient location, but it was too pricy for an OLD, OLD, OLD, non upgraded room with no amenities. I had to turn the water off for the toilet because it ran constantly. I had to call for repair to TV - it lost connection to cable …. I did w/o TV the first night - hoping it was just temporary - but wanted to watch the news the 2nd night …. The repairman knew just about as much as I did 🙄. The only GREAT part about my stay was the Lobby Desk attendant, Joey!! He was AWESOME, friendly and helpful and displayed a PLEASURE in helping Guests. He took pride in his job and HIS hotel!!
