There is no office/check-in at the motel itself. You must go to the sister hotel, Ivy House Hotel to check in. Unfortunately, there are steep stairs to access the front office and I am partially handicapped, making it quite the ordeal to get up the stairs and climb back down to check in. The room itself was clean and updated, and there was a decent restaurant out the back door of our room and across the parking lot. There was a boil water alert while we were there, so bottled water only to drink. Interesting place to visit, plenty of history, and water-related things to do there.

Despite the island water being cut off for the first 10-12 hours of our stay, the location, room, and particularly the staff were very considerate and helpful. They made up for the dry taps and even found and preserved an item I forgot at their desk.

Old Florida in the Heart of the Everglades

Old Florida drive-up motel. Updated, comfortable and perhaps the cleanest motel we’ve seen. Centrally located for exploring the Everglades. Diner next door with very good food. Waterside restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended for an authentic Everglades visit.
