Dated property with paperthin walls - Not worth it
While the hotel looked charming in photos, the reality was disappointing. The property feels run down and dated, lacking the appealing character that can sometimes come with historic buildings. The rooms appear to have gone without updates for decades, giving off a neglected rather than vintage atmosphere. The biggest issue was the complete lack of privacy due to paper-thin walls. We could hear every detail from neighboring rooms, and at 7 AM, fellow guests' conversations were as clear as if they were in our room. To make matters worse, cleaning staff began vacuuming adjacent rooms at 8 AM, making any chance of rest impossible. On a positive note, the front desk staff, particularly one helpful employee, provided friendly service. However, this couldn't make up for the substandard accommodations and poor sound insulation. This hotel needs significant renovations to meet basic comfort expectations.

Nice, older hotel but a few issues during our 3 night stay. The hotel has thin walls, and it wasn't anywhere near full, yet the staff booked other guests in the room next to ours and above ours every night. Lots of noise. We could not access Wifi when we checked in. After notifying the staff, we heard nothing back and never got access in the hotel. A good place but the staff needs to be more proactive given the age of facilities.

Nice quiet stay at the Monterey
As a "historical" hotel, you never know what you're going to get in regards to the abilities of the building, but I had no issues in terms of water temp/pressure/etc. The room temp was good, and the hotel was very quiet. The carpets are a bit worn but they are clean, so not an issue. And the location was perfect; easily walked to everything I wanted to see, and plenty of good food options nearby.

Staff was stellar…location was nice….the hotel has some historic charm….but… Rooms are very tiny, bed uncomfortable as well was the pillow..heard next at 12 am taking a shower..lotsa outside noise..tv remote had some kind of reddish gel? On the back of it..funny though..the remote was in a holder that stated this remote was cleaned and sanitized…ummm? The toilet..OMG!… barely touch the handle..sounded like a jet taking off!

You have to keep in mind that you are staying at a historic hotel. It’s beautiful & has that old hotel feel, which I always love. The amenities are so so, but that is to be expected. With that being said the room I stayed in has all the comforts of home. It’s cozy & the water is hot :) I enjoy staying in places like this which may not be the same for everyone. The staff is very warming & welcoming; and for me that is everything when you choose a place to stay when out of town. You can walk out the front door & have an huge options of places to eat & shop. And I love that ! I would definitely book a stay at this hotel again.

Very noisy room from outside noise. Staff were great, especially Katie and Syed! Paid a lot extra for fireplace but was disappointed, not much flame so poor ambiance. Would benefit from smart tv, or Roku stick.
