The hotel is located near Fisherman’s Wharf and downtown Monterey. The hotel was absolutely no frills. Breakfast was coffee and cereal bars. Also you had to request a change of towels and trash collection or no one would come, Parking was $30 per night or you had to sort yourself out on the street or in the municipal parking lots. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was courteous but the amenities were few.

Very old and unkept property. Really disappointed based on all the reviews others had left. Furniture was all scratched and worn out. Bed was so old and worn out we would have had a better nights sleep in our car. Luckily we only stayed 1 night since we had to be in the city for an early morning appointment.

It was fine
The property is fine. The staff was very friendly, but the property is just, "good." It was a warm day in Monterey, and there is no air conditioning in the hotel, so room was stuffy when we arrived. A fan was provided, but the hotel butts up against an apartment building, so with windows open, it was noisy. Grab n go breakfast is EXACTLY like described. Coffee and granola bars. location is ok. It's about a 7-10 minute walk to old Fisherman's Wharf (not to be confused with Cannery Row, which is much further).

The hotel is described as “historic.” Did not understand that that meant paint would be peeling off the walls and bathroom door or that the rug and bedding would have noticeable stains. Staff was fine but the room was not worth the $500 per night charged. Won’t be going back anytime soon much less recommending to friends.

Historic room means old room not updated
We stayed in an “historic room” which was nice enough looking at it, but a lot of things didn’t work. The phone didn’t work, the elevator didn’t work, the shower barely put out any water. The Tv was is an awkward place, and so on. We were woken up at 5:00am by the loud seagulls! Monterey seems to have a lot of them.
