Great choice for a getaway!
I’m so glad I chose this hotel for my solo getaway!!! Josh kindly greeted me at the front counter and got me a room with such a wonderful city and ocean view. I booked the king room with the fireplace. The bed was so comfortable. I love the fact the tub and shower are separate; I love a good bubble bath. The only downer was there wasn’t a fridge or microwave. However, they have a fridge but it’s basically a minibar stocked with alcohol and soda. The pool and hot tub weren’t lit up like I’ve seen in other pictures but it still was nice. I got one drink from the bar downstairs, Continental Drift, it was good. Everything is near by so no need to really drive anywhere. The aquarium is just a few feet away. Valet/Self Parking $45 a night plus tax though. Costly but I felt catered to, especially while being on a solo get away. While staying here, I checked out Point Lobos. Great trails for hiking! Definitely will be staying here again and will actually try the C restaurant to check out the food!!

I could not be more disappointed we wasted our money to stay here. We visited in celebration of our son’s 10th birthday and I have health issues so we needed a place in walking distance of the aquarium. Normally, we stay at the Portola and I will never stray again. This is not a luxury property. Our fireplace didn’t work, there was some kind of growth all over the fence on the patio, we had repairmen in and out of our room and we were woken at 6:30 both mornings by the guests above us as the floors are so thin. I had to chisel something off the toilet seat when we first arrived. When we mentioned our disappointment at check out and said we didn’t see the credit they had promised, we were told it was already applied, all $30 of it. My husband reached out to the general manager and was told nothing more could be done. Don’t waste your money or your vacation on this place. They don’t value their customers and the property is desperately in need of an update.

Although I rarely take the time to write reviews, I felt it necessary to share my disappointment with this stay. For the price, this hotel did not meet the standards expected of an upscale experience. The service fell short, and overall, the stay lacked the quality and comfort one would anticipate at this price point. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Check-in clerk was very nice, Jayson was kind and helpful. He upgraded us to a full suite which we're very appreciative. The ambiance of this hotel is peaceful and meditative; interiors were tastefully furnished, with beautiful flowers and art pieces. The valet was also helpful.

Staff was very attentive and accomodating, for example upgrading our view and assuring our requests were met. Beautiful bay view! Manager and staff at the desk were very helpful and friendly. Negative- at these prices, I would think either the parking or breakfast would have been part of the package.

I’m unhappy with a pending charge that was charged prior to arrival. It holds up money for several business days, until cleared. I opted to pay at property and in all my stays for years, have never had this happen.
