Great location, but spend the $$$ at another hotel
Extremely difficult for an elderly handicapped, or physically challenged person. One bathroom for all, both male or female. Steep back stairs, with no connection to front lobby. No reception desk, so no staff at times during the day. Staff that was available was pleasant, but limited help given only Japanese spoken. Not worth the $$$
Simple, no frees, Japanese Ryokan accommodation. If you like sleeping on hard surfaces, like I do, then this is for you. If you don't, then go somewhere else. Room is simple. Whole property is clean.
hotel very near to train station in a prime location near to sightseeing places. It is a bit old with toilet outside tatami room. we make up our bed but later the helper came and told us she could do it for us. It was low season and we had the toilet almost all to ourselves. The weather was cold and bathroom is downstairs so we skipped it. Since we had the room only and could not comment on the food. However we strongly advise to get the full board as it is not easy to find a restaurant in service outside.
Amanohashidate is one of the three scenic views in Japan but, unlike Matsushima and Itsukushima, it is not really worth the travel. If you are in the neighborhood, it is nice to see.
However, don’t stay overnight if you don’t want to pay half board in one of the hotels there. I did not find an open eating place after 5 pm, and the only convenience store featured mostly junk food – instant noodles were the healthiest food there.
This simple hotel refused to offer me breakfast although I asked for it on arrival. Maybe because I was the only guest on that night – guests are such a bother, don’t you think? In spite of being the only guest, I got a backside room with a view overlooking the tracks of the railway, far away from the facilities. Maybe they considered it a good room.
Not a place I like to remember, but probably one of the cheaper places in the neighborhood
