If you read one review about the Penguin, let it be this one. This trashy motel ruined our anniversary trip. It looks absolutely nothing like the pictures, the pool is at a whole different building, the “complimentary” drinks are watered down and you pay for them with the $65 fee they charge you per night which isn’t disclosed when you book. But the real big problem I have with this hotel is the valet, they are scammers. Valet guy charged us $60 a night, hotel behind us is $20 a night and they all go to the same parking deck. How I know this you might ask? Because he also messed our 2021 Ford Bronco all the way up. Killed the engine so we were stranded, had to get it towed and taken to a dealership while we’re taking a rental car 10 hours back to NC. The water went cold on us multiple times. Also, it’s a pretty old and stinky place. You will notice they trick you by advertising the beach being so close by but don’t be fooled, you can get something way nicer & cheaper on Ocean blvd. I am so mad I picked this place, they really tricked me. Don’t let them trick you.

The room feels a bit austere, but the corner room ocean view was amazing, and the bed was very comfortable. And importantly, the room was clean. The receptionist who checked us in and out was extremely friendly and helpful.

Our plane arrive early and even though we could not check in that early Carmen greeted us with a smile, tagged all our bags and stormed them for us. She saw I needed water to take some medication and offered me a bottle of water. She took my phone number so she could contact us when the first available room was ready. I missed her text so she called about 15 minutes later to let us know the room was ready. The room was a refreshing 66 degrees which felt so good coming in from the heat. I was a bit concerned about being on the ground floor but it ended up being not only convenient but surprisingly quiet. The black out curtains let you sleep like a baby until what ever time you were ready to wake up. The breakfast was very good offering scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, fresh fruit and danishes along with choices of bread/bagels,4 different juices and coffee and tea. Overall we had a very good stay.

Fantastic place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful; excellent. They allowed us to check in early which was a pleasant surprise. You can walk to most anything you needed Walgreens restaurants even Starbucks. Would definitely stay there again.

Mike and the front desk staff were awesome. Very helpful, thorough and accommodating. It was my first time traveling with my 10 month old, so I had requested a side crib through the booking. When I checked in, Mike acknowledged it was already set up in the room without having to reconfirm myself. Suggesting to stay hydrated with their water bottle service. Everyone was very professional and likeable :)

The room was clean and bed was comfy. Bathroom was very small but clean. Their bar was not functional so if you wanted a drink, you had to go next door or to their sister hotel behind them, as well as the pool which was not convenient but was ok. An older hotel of course but very helpful staff.
