an oldie but a goody

We were a little worried about staying here, but the location was perfect, and the price really good. When we entered the lobby, again extremely worried about the rooms, as the lobby seemed very original to the building built in 1937. On another note, the building was very old, but the lobby was super cool and had that authentic vibe, which I really like...and then we got to our room and we were VERY pleasantly surprised! It was really large, the ac worked great, and everything was freshly painted and clean. The beds were beautiful, but sadly every movement on the mattress was really loud...very odd and made it difficult to sleep. Also, the windows are all original single pane, so the car parking lot next door was quite loud. That all having been said, I would absolutely stay here again...I thought it was a really cool old hotel with serious ambiance...just remember it is not a 4 seasons. We had a great time!

Historic, but outdated. Potential to be quite charming, but needs work. It is not clear that they offer valet service or where they are located. There weren’t very many outlets in the rooms. They use actual keys to unlock the doors so you are limited to only one key per room. The elevator is abrupt, but in working condition. For the price, the hotel is not great, but location is decent.

The location was awesome being at the beach and where all the action was and art deco style building. It's best to not be near the elevator as its super noisy as it's old style Otis steel clunks open and closed super loud. Offering bottles of water would be nice. There was a fridge and everything worked, but old style and old windows looked original. Good view of the Ocean though from the front on 3rd floor.

Uncomfortable

You get charged an extra $85 upon arrival. They claim it's a "hotel fee" The rooms don't have units to control your own temperature. There's no hotel Wi-Fi, it's a public network. Our bed sunk in the middle and was incredibly uncomfortable. We switched rooms, but the second room wasn't much better.

Our stay was just okay.. not overall impressed or satisfied for the price we paid. You can’t control the temperature in the room so it’s freezing most of the time and you are only provided with a thin blanket. Beds are super old, noisy, and uncomfortable; pillows are so flat they need to be thrown out at this point. The plumbing is extremely loud and makes a loud humming noise for 30 seconds every time after you flush the toilet. The floor of our room was dirty and had sand/dirt sticking to our feet. You can hear everything outside, but more importantly everything within the entire building; people talking in the room next door, the hair dryer of the room next door, the doors constantly slamming when rooms are being cleaned, just a lot.
