Mostly beautiful hotel, ideal location

Great location! Comfortable room, breakfast buffet is so delicious. Hotel is beautiful, however only complaint is that we saw a sliver inside other rooms as they were being cleaned and all seemed a little more up to date than our room (I.e ours had carpet, no real decor, a high up window, basic bathroom while others had hardwood floor, bigger window, etc). Would stay again though!

Old world charm

This is a really cool old hotel. The bad reviews on it are because it’s old, but that the charm. It’s also well located. The staff were excellent.

Great hotel but restaurant not so great

The hotel was great and has some marvelous aesthetic qualities. Only complaints are that the restaurant food there was very disappointing and honestly the cocktails from their bar were also subpar. On the bright side their bar is quite interesting in how it’s decorated and their live music is terrific. Overall I was pleased. Price is not cheap.

Phone Bar is the best

The service and beauty of this hotel were excellent. We felt like we were stepping back in time, while still having all the amenities we needed. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for those wanting easy walking and public transportation. Our room was quiet and spacious. We will definitely book this hotel for our next trip to Mexico City!

Classic hotel in the beautiful and fun Zona Rosa. Lobby is gorgeous and full of old world charm. Plenty to do right outside the door with shops and restaurants all steps away.

This hotel has a lot of history, and we appreciated some interesting features in the public areas. Hotel staff are very nice and helpful, and the bed is comfortable. However, for a five-star hotel, I expected more than the bare minimum. For one thing, the room was very old and insufficiently lit. The bathroom was small and dark. Sound insulation was poor, and we could hear every conversation from the adjoining room. The WiFi connection was very poor, and I had to resort to using cellular data all the time. Finally, the Veranda restaurant staff was not nice or helpful. We ate there twice for breakfast, once ordering a la carte, the second time, for buffet. The buffet selection was the smallest I’d ever seen at any hotel. There was no bread or pastry (though we saw bread baskets on some tables) and the waitstaff did not offer to bring any to us. Overall, it’s a pretty hotel but sorely lacking in some essentials. We will not go back.
