Great if you were staying in 1955

Great location and obviously was a great hotel once. But now very dated and has not come into the 21st century. For example, the internet is terrible, drops out, slow and that was just for emails and newspapers. Would not be able to work online there.

Properly living on its historic values but making no attempt to grow value. Rooms pretty basic. Shower in small bath. Bed not all that comfortable, and starchy sheets that scratch the skin. Staff just pleasant, but not enthusiastic. Valet parking is problematic when they don’t reserve a spot for guests to pull up out side the hotel (places consumed by taxis and cars belonging to weddings). Not happy, wouldn’t stay here again.

This is an elegant old hotel that has hosted many famous people. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff was gracious and helpful. There is a bar on site visited by locals after work and it has good food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the bottle of wine offered with our booking.

On checkin we were advised our booking had been cancelled. Manager stated it had nothing to do with the hotel. I contacted Expedia whom we had used to booked the hotel. It took 50mins of speaking with Expedia and Expedia talking to the hotel manager, for the hotel manager to apologise for ‘their error’. We were upgraded to a suite as the Superior room we had booked was no longer available.

Clearly a nice hotel well located close to some of Melbourne must see and many restaurants and with a tram 35 station just in front of the lobby, however it lacks some “love” and renovation in our large room and in the corridor and in the lobby.

Definitely the perfect choice

Olesia at the front desk was awesome. Went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The concierge desk, the maids, the bar and the restaurant were all excellent. Beautiful old hotel with a fantastic staff.

The Windsor Hotel is steeped in history of a by gone era and I love it for that. I love it's location within easy walking distance of some of Melbourne's great established restaurants Florentino, Longrain and Bamboo House. Breakfast in the dining room is a delight and the service is excellent The room sizes vary throughout the property but are clean and comfortable and it is my home away from home.
