We didn't book here expecting a luxury hotel where we would be spending loads of time. What we wanted was somewhere convenient while spending time in Manchester. And that is exactly what we got . A decent comfortable hotel with good facilities in each room, friendly staff and very good breakfasts with plenty of parking and excellent transport links. For a city break that is pretty much all we needed and the Ox did the job perfectly.
Wouldn’t recommend this hotel although it is good location to central Manchester and had free parking. The smell of old cigarettes and mustiness in my room was absolutely appalling and so strong that when I got home I had to wash even the items I didn’t wear. People up all hours of the night whistling in the corridor and banging doors. Someone knocked on my door at midnight, I was a lone female and felt very scared therefore I didn’t answer it. I think people were smoking in the hallway. The hotel is in the same building as the job centre. There are no real windows in the rooms and they are mouldy and need a good clean. The bed is like sleeping on the floor. The pillows are practically pointless. The room and bathroom were clean and the shower very powerful which was needed after no sleep. The curtains need to be taken down and washed. The walls need a wash too or a refresh as splatters on them. The breakfast was nice for £9.99. The staff were nice. Wouldn’t go back ever again, not worth £105 a night, worth £40 at best.
Perfect for a one night stay for the football, easy access to central Manchester with a decent room and facilities. Would say surrounding area might not be for everyone, but I had no problems with it.
The hotel felt tired and dated although the bathroom was clean and new. It is in the same building as the job centre and I didn’t feel that the area was very safe.
Hotel położony w odległej dzielnicy, ale bardzo dobrze skomunikowany z Manchesterem i z Liverpoolem. W okolicy kilka pubów i restauracji i duże sklepy. No dzielnica nie jest atrakcyjna turystycznie. W hotelu bar, podają śniadania. Ogólnie czysto, jest wszystko co potrzeba.
The beds was very hard, the windows had mould around them and there was a strong smell of cigarettes down the corridor, the tv in the room had no channels apart from the radio channel
WiFi is unusably slow, beds are cheap and uncomfortable. Don't bank on having the room cleaned either. No wheelchair access as the rooms are on a landing between flights of stairs. Not sure I'd recommend.
The room was clean and for the price was around the standard I would expect . There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower that was empty , other than that I had no issues with my room. However the general building and areas outside of the room were extremely outdated and poorly maintained.
I would definitely stay again due to the price being great and it being close to the festival I was attending but if you like hotels of a higher standard with charm and style I wouldn’t recommend.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel is housed within an apartment block which is very tired indeed. You access via a carpark shared by residents and job centre clients
