closed hotel, still charging and able to book onli
the hotel was closed and under construction and somehow hotels.cm still has them able to book rooms. they would not refund the money as it was non rufundable. ive taken it up with the CC company, such bs
We based our reservatikn off the photos on ths website and its no where close. Entire outside of building is stripped down to building wrap material. Construction will last 8 months. Rooms are not as advertised in the photos, assuming because of the construction. So in about 8 months when the construction ks done im wure it will be great, just a complete bait and switch at the moment from what the website shows.
The property needs a big renovation inside and outside. It seems they started outside work and changed for new windows - which seems not working properly as wind going through with whistling noise, windows are hard to close = not installed correctly. Very dirty carpet, even windows and around - lots of dust and other remains after installation. Some tiles are broken on the bathroom floor and in bathtub seems like falling apart.
This property is under full construction and should not be open. It is unsafe. The pictures of this property on the website are completely false advertising. Expedia should refund anyone who is tricked into reserving this hotel. Do not make my mistake and reserve a room here
This place is simply filthy. The first room I got was not serviced and in the second, the carpet could be out of a crime scene, the bathroom had hair from the previous guest on the floor and I there was jam and water on the counter. It's beyond me how they get away with that level of housekeeping and service. I called the front desk but they didn't care much. I'll try to upload pictures.
Property was being remodeled and there wasn’t a single sign to indicate what hotel it was or if it was open making it very difficult to find. The place should have been closed. Construction equipment and materials everywhere. Windows boarded up. At night the construction workers had taken over the covered parking area and were partying and playing loud music. Very unsafe to the point I wouldn’t let my wife leave my side. Not what I expected for my first time in Mammoth.

DO NOT BOOK a room here!! The property is under total construction, and there is no mention of this. You will be charged full rate. Pay an extra 10 bucks and book somewhere else. An outright sham!
The property is under major reconstruction. Had I been informed about this beforehand, I would have never booked.
I should get my money back and reimbursed for the list time

The hotel was great. It was hard to find because it is under renovation and the signage was missing.
The Property was under remodeling construction inside and outside. dirty ceilings, carpet, water dripping through lobby ceiling, faucets that were difficult to turn on and off- and a broken shower diverter. TV guide provided did not match anything on the tuner, water damage to ceiling in room 404 with bulges in drywall and exposed tape joints. we were there for sleeping 4 nights - so we made it work, but breakfast was very limited with no fruit offered. I think that the staff has little to work with. The pool door opens into the lobby and pool smell permeated the lobby. linens were clean but very tired. lamps had pull chains and not outlet on them and the other outlets were so worn out that the pulls on our cords were difficult to get good connection. I have not seen such outdated locks on the doors in 20 years. Key located in very worn out round lockset. The exterior is currently wrapped in Construction Tyvek and there is not even a temporary sign with a Shilo name on it. I have not stayed at a Shilo Inn for a while, but I would be very hesitant to every use one again. Last thing is that the elevator probably took 20 - 30 seconds to open after stopping at the 4th floor. We walked both down and up several time to avoid the wait time.

Pros: Great price for Mammoth Lakes. Super location, close to Yosemite and June Lake so you can visit lots of places. Dog friendly ( with a charge )
Cons: Old motel currently under renovation in the outside of building. Reno not yet underway so everything is old and worn and shabby. It is clean for such old decor just stained carpet and worn furniture.
The picture that are being used are not what I experienced at all. Also the building is completely under construction. Almost drove past it when I actually thought it was a building under construction. Front desk lack of attention. The elevator got stuck for to the point where we were pulling out our phones to call for help. Once it opened we entered into a hall way with kitchen trays carving dripping water. They use regular keys not a lock card for the room doors. With no top door room lock on the inside. With the condition of the hotel and then not to feel safe in a unfamiliar place was unsettling for my self and fiancé. Just was not the experience we wanted on our yearly mammoth trip for our anniversary.
I stay in Hotels 2-3 times a month doo to work.
This place has been the worst of all.!!
Staff (Nick) was rud and unprofessional.
Room was disgusting dirty.!
I would never stay here even for Free.!!
People avoid Shilo Inn. Have a Blessed Day.!!
We found this hotel when it was undergoing renovation - the wall coverings were removed and the walls were covered with new thermal insulation. I don't know how legal it is to do such renovations to a hotel while people are staying there. There was a strong smell (formaldehyde?) coming from this thermal insulation. Additionally, inside the hotel there was a simply awful smell of bleach used to disinfect the pool. The smell of bleach was so strong that it caught in your throat and made your eyes water. The air conditioning fan was impossible to use (you couldn't change the temperature), we had to open the window. Inside the hotel - the corridors, elevators, etc. were very dirty and smelled strongly of dirt (I haven't seen such a dirty hotel in many years). Surprisingly, our room was spacious and clean. The bed linen was clean. There were no complaints about our room.

Nice room, breakfast supplied. Like having a sink to wash dishes in rather than using vanity basin.
Outside of building being renovated, we were informed that work was being done, didn't realise whole outside would be covered, didn't think it was the correct building. Inside is fine.
