Interesting property with long history. Kept clean and serviced daily. Suggest booking direct with property rather than thro agency. This can be a challenge sometimes since front desk is sometime not attended so it switches to answer phone. Large and quiet garden area which is nice for walking and relaxing. In centre of Malton convenient for Castle Howard, Eden Camp. Flamingo land, and of course York (about 14/16 miles.)

Lovely stay at the Old Lodge. Nice to have our anniversary celebration acknowledged with a room upgrade. Everything very clean and the hotel is a magnificent old building which is has real character both inside and out. Easy walk into Malton and local restaurants, parking is plentiful and facilities although quiet offer everything you need. Breakfast is amazing, top quality full English to start the day.

Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere in the hotel. The room was a bit tired, in fairness the building is over 400 years old. I would definitely stay here again!!!

A very satisfying 2 night stay.
We had a lovely 2 night stay, really spacious room, lots of storage, exceptionally comfortable bed, adequate refreshments supplied and a good sized bathroom. Staff were lovely and friendly, happy to chat and always available when needed. The Lodge it's self is beautiful, with wonderfully maintained grounds, set back from the main road, so its nice and quiet.

The hotel was within easy walking distance to the town centre but situated in a quiet area of Malton. The staff were cheerful, friendly, competent and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room dated, lack of housekeeping, leaving one pack of biscuits and emptying the rubbish is lazy Dirty coffee mugs and glasses left by the bed is a poor show The whole room needs a good refit so the kettle will work on the tea and coffee area rather than having to use it on the floor

Disappointing
We arrived to find our room very dusty and bits on the carpet behind the bedside cabinets, the wall and ceilng had lots of cobwebs and a small patch of mould on the ceiling, we asked for the room to be dusted again, the housekeeper that came to do it seemed reluctant as it was home time. The bed was not very comfortable either. The shower screen didn't stop water going all over the floor as there was no seal on it, so a slip hazzard when you got out of the shower. And when there was a heavy rainstorm the rain water was running down the wall, we asked to be moved that evening, but there were no other rooms until the following morning. The hotel staff moved our things into another room for us while we were out, this was for our last two nights, this room was far superior to the room we previously had. In our opinion the hotel is in need of lots of TLC. Sadly we wouldn't stay there again.
