Fifty-five years ago, I stayed in this motel the night before I married my wife. It was a great stay! But this weekend was 100% turnaround. The room was awful. The door was difficult to unlock, an ironing board was in the room but no iron, the fridge was hardly working and dirty. The microwave was dirty, maybe a drip from a Hot Pocket, and I had to clean it before my wife would use it. The bathtub had heavy mold in one corner where it met the tile, and the shower curtain just grazed the top of the tub so when when the shower was used, the floor was a lake. The entire tub stopper had been pulled out and was sitting on the rim of the tub. Even if we'd wanted to, taking a bath was out of the question. The website indicated the place has a Restaurant. It does not. So no breakfast There wasn't even a morning cup of coffee available in the lobby area, and there was no coffee maker in the room. Before we went to bed, we walked to the Circle K across the parking lot to buy coffee to heat up in the microwave to drink in the morning. Neither was there an ice machine on the property. Also, 90% of the supports for the upstairs walkway were rotted. Besides being an eyesore, they were probably dangerous. On the plus side, the mattress was firm and comfortable (can't say much good about the pillows), and the shade did a good job of keeping the parking lot lights from flooding the room, but those things could never make up for the inadequacies of this place. We will never stay there again.

Hotel unacceptable

I had a job location about 15 miles from hotel that lasted a week. I decided to try it out the room, the owner said i could get a deluxe for $5 more so i agreed. The room was disappointing when i took a shower i reached up to move the shower head and it fell off!! But what really got me was the huge water roach that came out under my bed! Pay a few dollars more and get a better hotel thats in the area the owner doesn't care just wants your money.

This is a very clean and comfortable place at a great price point. The best thing is the really sweet couple running the place. It's an old property but for the price it is safe, clean and what you need for a couple good nights of sleep. I came here for a marathon in Shiner so it was a good location. It's near HEB and a few interesting towns like Luling and Gonzalez on the fringe of hill country.

Don't judge the book by its cover

The room was exactly as pictured. The room was very clean. The bedding was soft and smelt and felt clean. The bed was comfortable considering we stayed away from home. The outside of the hotel looks run down; however, everything else was great. The receptionist was very friendly and professional. I would stay there again.

My body aches after a days hard work and I just need to soak in a hot bathtub. The property was dated, but the price of the room was reasonable and the bed sheets were clean. The hot water was wonderfully hot. Now that might seem a little odd, but the water in my room at another hotel in Yoakum Texas was just barely warm. This alone made my stay great. It was Godsend to soak in a hot bathtub. The room was dated and really could be renovated. That said, the TV worked. The bathroom dated, but clean. The AC worked fine. The bed was good and the linen clean. But best of all- THE WATER WAS HOT. And the staff was great !

Nasty place

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Had to move to 3 different rooms because something was wrong with them. They were all nasty. They had plenty of nice rooms but gave us trashy rooms.

The only good things I can say are that it was affordable and available when nothing else was. The room was in horrible condition. Paint torn from the walls. Rusty fixtures. Peeling paint in table tops. It was noisy and we wondered if people lived upstairs. The manager was nice but the whole place was a wreck. With no other availability in town it was suck it up here or sleep in the truck. The bedding appeared clean. But the mattress was rock hard.

BEWARE! From Bates motel appearance, stale smelling room to a creepy feeling.  Very 1st thing was being told I booked smoking.  She'd gladly move me to a nonsmoking room for an extra fee. I should have pulled up the reservation.  Later I had time I found NO I indeed booked nonsmoking.  The owner was walking by so I let him know the error.  Basically I got a "you should be grateful" speech.  On how they gave us a good room, pet deposit down the road was higher, how his security cameras are on.  I knew then instead of a simple mistake, it was bait & switch scam.  They DO NOT honor the price on Expedia.  It's just $ so it wasn't worth the hassle trying to talk further with his supposed "limited English and understanding".  15 minutes later the Owner knocks on door with our bill asking for signature.  He didn't remove the $, because they "gave us the best room".  Still not worth a hassle I sign and keep our copy as proof. 7:30am as I was in bed waking up, the door unlocks only stopped opening by the chain AND peeping in is the OWNER! He saw me awake & shut the door.  My husband & I decide to get out of there!  As we packed our car right outside our doorway I tell Owner "our door was opened" His reply was " he'd check into it". EXTREMELY CREEPY!! I began watching my credit card, I do not trust the integrity of this owner & wife, so I have cancelled my card from bogus charges. Obviously "GOOD" reviews are staged.   Our "clean" room left our socks BLACK on the bottom.
