Had a great 4 night stay at this location. The staff was amazing and provided above level service each day… the location also was convenient located near other amenities such as casinos, dining options outside of the hotel , and a little shopping. Stayed for 5 nights. Staff were not friendly and nobody goes above and beyond except 2 people- the manager Angela and Stacy, a wait staff during our lunch at the cantina. The food at the restaurants are the same menu every day. The buffet is similar. Our room smelled musty even before we got there. It was never cleaned properly and even missed one day. There is sewage smell occasionally when you're on the balcony (we were 6th floor, island facing) and definitely sewage smells when you're walking down to the beach. The beach is small but you can't beat the view of the water and the planes coming and going. It never gets old. Despite the shortfalls of this resort, we had a perfect family vacation and our daughter loved it (5 years old). The pools were clean and there were always chairs around the kids area. St. Maarten is a beautiful island and we will be back!

Room was old, outdated and musty. The ceiling leaked my entire stay and after reporting the issue twice they sent the maintenance guy to “fix” it. Even the housekeeper called to report the issue when she came to clean the room and they ignored her call. The staff at the buffet was very nice, can’t say the same for front desk. For the money I paid I was uncomfortable the entire stay. Wouldn’t go back.

the resort is great ,but the beach in front of the resort is not the best , high waves narrow beach and very limited beach lounges The food varied but was good .going to the buffet or any restaurant ,you have to stand inline to be seated after you scan your wrist band The worst was the staff security staff are rude ,rough and they treat you like you work for them. House keeping ,need to call twice to get help with water overflow ,maintenance have to be called 3-4 times and they could not adjust the room temperature For the price we paid ,we expected better service

Overall, the property offers good value for the price. The only improvement I’d suggest is providing assistance with luggage upon arrival, including helping guests bring their bags to the room, as the resort currently doesn’t offer this service. Good pool, good beach and area.

Very Limited dining options and on certain nights some restaurants were closed. Food was just okay, definitely not for those looking for exceptional dining experiences and top shelf alcohol. No entertainment to speak of at night but during the day for a few hours at the pool there was a great singing duo. Very catered towards families- not a place for adults to get dressed up and go to the Bar for a drink before dinner. Staff was hit and miss, bartenders not friendly at all but some of the wait staff were nice and the Spa staff and Tour Booking Agents were absolutely wonderful. Cleanliness is okay. Updating needed everywhere. Only allowed 1 pool towel per person. Very small resort- I wouldn’t go back again. Even the adults only resort attached would not be worth the extra money- they use all the same amenities as the Sonnesta except for 1 awkward pool (with no bar) and a restaurant. The noise of the airplanes did not bother us (and I thought it might) but it is actually cool. There is a constant slight breeze the entire day and night and I loved it, helped cool you off.
