This is a very big hotel right on the Pacific Ocean on a beautiful beach but because of the rip ride it is dangerous and you have to sign a waiver so they let you get into the water. It has three large pools and a lot of family entertainment which can get loud and crowded during the day. The rooms are very spacious and it's quiet at night, friendly and helpful staff.

We saw the sun rise and set from our room every day. We saw whales every evening! It was close walking distance to the marina. Staff and entertainment staff was exceptional. The fiesta was a great experience with live dancing and entertainment! The spa was relaxing and refreshing as well

I would highly recommend the All-Inclusive meal plan because paying retail at their onsite restaurants would be very expensive. I liked the location of the resort because it was private, while still being close enough to walk to town or hike over rocks to reach Lover's Arch and the beach.

The food was amazing! The pool and entertainment staff were fun and worked hard to keep everyone entertained. The rooms we stayed in need a little upgrade/remodel (the tile appears dirty, she shower looked dirty) BUT it’s older- not dirty. The housekeeping staff was amazing every single day! We will be back.

The property at the Playa Grande is massive, it's hard to tell from the pictures and the description but there 5 other buildings tucked behind the V-shaped structure. We stayed in Building B, which is the crux of the bad rating for our stay... I booked a 2 bedroom Presidential Suite for our families week long vacation. For 2 months prior to our stay I called weekly asking where on the property they would be putting us (hoping to get some sort of sunset view, which from the pictures the V-structure should be amenable to). I was continuously told there is nothing they can do until I check in, but they would add my note request to the reservation. So when we arrived and found out about the back buildings I was not happy. Buildings B & E are on the very back side of the Ridge facing the Marina, during the day this is an ok view but at night the nightclubs kick up until 2-3am in the morning. The walk to the resort amenities is also quite far. Clearly the view, building location and the noise levels were not what I expected nor wanted. I went to the front desk and asked for a change which they could not do. I also talked to the supervisor who did nothing. I did what I thought I could do before we arrived and in the end felt like a victim of bait and switch. Bottom line: avoid Buildings B & E! (there’s more I could add but ran out of space)

We were extremely disappointed to see this property has gone down in cleanliness and friendliness. The all inclusive feature we paid for did not even include bottled water with our breakfast. Many extra costs and staff that were not friendly made this a very poor experience. We will not be back.
