Typical old style motel. Everything in the room worked fine with the exception of a very noisy AC.
We really liked this motel form the day we pulled into the parking spot until the day we left the. There also a great place, walkable from the motel for breakfast, called the " Alabama".
It was a great stop on our way to Lake Tahoe.
Clean, comfortable place to stay after my JMT hike. On site laundry was a big plus. It is a couple of blocks to most of the restaurants in lone Pine, but Lone Pine is not big so it is easy to walk anywhere. The owners try to keep the place looking good with flowers and other attention to detail. I was completely satisfied with my stay.
We needed a place to spend the night on trip to Southern Cal.
It was easy and close. The front fest was very nice. She went out of her way to help me with a telephone call since the cell phone service was temporarily out that night.
Good clean, quiet room in town and close to restaurants.

For the price it should be a little nicer.
No pictures on the walls, old school poly ester bedspreads, worn out carpet. The small pool was a nice amenity for the kids, but unheated and way too cold for me to swim in. Owner seemed really unhappy, didn’t smile or say hello when we arrived.
My friend and I had a great stay. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the fridge was spacious, and most importantly the AC was new and effective at keeping the room cool while it was over 100°F outside.
Second time I stayed here while doing a climb of nearby Mt Whitney. There are no Ritz Carlton's in Lone Pine, but the Trails was perfect for my stay. Clean, quiet & convenient.
I liked the location but the pool seemed in rather poor condition as did the rooms baseboards which indicated there had been a flood/water damage. . Found a cockroach in our room which was a bit concerning.
It’s a typical motel. Very simple and this is what I needed for 3 nights, just to sleep after long hiking. It’s only 30 minutes away from the Whitney trailhead. A little bit pricey but it’s understandable.

Towels were small, thin and rough. Baseboards dirty. No hairdryer.
This unpretentious motel is a great value. We stayed here before and after our hike of Mt Whitney. What we wanted was a clean motel with good air conditioning and easy parking after our long hike. The Trails Motel met all of this. Other nice things were microwave, refrigerator, and a coffeemaker in the room. Also, an ice machine and serviceable pool. Although it is an older motel, it is well maintained. I definitely would stay there again

The lady at the front desk was pretty rude. I checked in around 9 PM so maybe she was tired or cranky, but I left the reception desk puzzled by how much attitude I had recieved upon asking very simple questions.
The next morning that same woman knocked on our door and after several seconds allowed herself in without much of an announcement.
The room itself was okay, towels had stains and so too did the sheets but hey, I didn’t pay the price I did for a luxe experience. I think the one thing that it had going was the convenience of booking pretty last second and its location. Love Lone Pine and its surrounding area, Trails Motel not so much.
