Very tired looking hotel in a great spot - staff were friendly and the bar was nice
Was really excited and looking forward to staying at the Shankly hotel with my partner however, on arrival our room was not ready at 3pm and was told to wait for 10 minutes. A queue formed so I got in the queue as I knew 10 minutes would have passed by this time, everyone else was being checked in.
Walked in our room (room 418) to what I can only describe as the most foul unpleasant smell ever! At first I thought it was the air con so I turned it off to then realise the smell was coming from the vent next to this I can only think something must have died and rotted on the roof on the vent as pigeons were constantly on top of there!
The toilet would not flush and had a very strong urine smell in the bathroom. We filled up the hot tub of the evening which spat dirt out everywhere and dirt was all in the filter. There was also a condom and other rubbish in the bathroom bin!
Came to get into bed and it was two single beds pushed together but advertising one double bed and two single beds but it was just 4 single beds!
To say I paid £166.50 for one night which meant to be a luxury room is disgusting, it was not even close to luxury and was so disappointed! I would honestly avoid this hotel and do your research before hand.
Shankly I would like reimbursing for this as nothing as was advertised. Hotels.com please assist with this if possible. I will be making an official complaint.
We stayed in room 221 and whilst the room is a little war torn, we had a great stay. The room didn’t spoil our stay and the staff are an absolute credit to the owners. I left my phone on one of the chairs in reception and someone handed it in. The receptionist put it in on charge whilst I returned to collect it.
We had no issues with noise coming from other rooms or people partying down the corridors. I have no idea why others have had that issue.
Considering we stayed on the weekend that LFC lifted the premier league trophy and everyone was partying, we have absolutely no complaints about our stay at all.
Great location - themed rooms are spacious and quirky and awesome views from level 5 .
Note some rooms have rain showers nonstop in shower so if you have mobility issue book a room with a walk in shower.
Wifi issues in higher level rooms.
Overall great location for train station and main attractions - close to shops /restaurants
Staff very friendly and helpful at front desk and restaurant.
Lobby is so fun but that’s where it kind of ends. Rooms and were comfortable but in desperate need of a facelift. Hallways seemed dingy and unclean. Love the story and name but don’t think would re-book.
