This is a grand old hotel that has an air of faded grandeur. The building and position is impressive and the interior decoration looks to have been refurbished recently and to a good standard.
The bathroom however was poorly appointed - the cheapest of toilet seats, a cheap ill fitting shower curtain, taps that were not properly fitted wobbled in their mounts and were difficult operate and a large chip in the wash basin that had been botch repaired with poly-filler.
The bedroom itself ,although relatively small , was comfortable and adequate save for the total lack of hotel and local area information .
This seems to be a feature of many hotels since COVID.
Nevertheless list of guest facilities, breakfast times and local attractions would have made our stay much better
The hotel bar is now a rowdy "sports bar" with slot machines , pool table and TV screens on every wall showing UFC matches. Not conducive to a pleasant pre -dinner drink.
The breakfast buffet is just about adequate provided you like a small selection of fried food. Very little for the healthy eater and a poor selection of beverages.
Apart from one or two exceptions the service was only just adequate with some staff members appearing offhand and disinterested.
With only a little more effort this hotel could regain some of it's past glory
