This property has all the ingredients to be amazing. What let’s it down is a few members of the team. Breakfast: you have to ask for the room rate every morning otherwise the waiter at the buffet gets stroppy. Coffee: sat down in a near empty restaurant and was asked to sit at the bar as ‘they might get a booking’. As the room was almost empty at 12:30 it was unlikely to have filled up in the time it takes to drink a coffee. Instead we left and went to a local coffee shop. Roof bar does not serve the complimentary drinks, seems odd but that is the rules. The amenities and room are lovely, front desk very helpful and the cleaning staff are so cheerful, a credit to the team.

Wish I could say I enjoyed my stay but sorry that’s just not the fact. Staff wasn’t helpful, the smell in the room was disgusting that I had to leave the window open for 2 hrs to get rid of it, bed was clean but everywhere else in the room was awfully dirty with dust and suspicious stains. And the noise - I don’t know if I was unlucky but there was clearly some sort of party outside on the street and there was very loud noise til midnight (or later). I hardly got any sleep that night. Rooftop view wasn’t amazing. I’m glad I stayed only for one night.

Reception stuff was not professional, we had a group reservations and prepaid breakfast and they charged one of our guests not even double checked with the management if it was prepaid or not. We requested several times to make sure the guests are not being asked to pay but unfortunately doesn't work at the end.

Mama Shelter was a hip hotel with a nice restaurant and roof top bar. It’s definitely a solid 3 stars for lodging. The pros: Check in was easy, the staff was super pleasant and we were lucky our room was ready a couple of hours before official check-in. I really liked the bathroom products - clean and eco friendly. The location is central, convenient to everything you need. Cons: We chose a cozy room which was as stated- tiny. It was hard to have two half open suitcases. For a solo traveler, it would be more than sufficient though! When we walked into our room, it smelled like wet laundry that had been sitting out. I opened a window and it helped, but I think it was the bedding. We had a short two night stay so it was bearable with the windows open to air the room. Wish there were usb outlets since we only had 1 travel adapter. Overall, it was a fine stay. I’d say the lodging and decor is skewed for a younger crowd.

The location is fantastic. Easy walking to the metro and the city squares. Easy commute to the airport via public transport. The hotel staff were excellent. Dinner was very good and a lively atmosphere in the restaurant. Breakfast was average and overpriced. (Food often cold) Would stay here again and highly recommend ( but without breakfast!)

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mama Shelter! We were greeted with friendly service and a voucher for a free drink at the restaurant bar to celebrate our honeymoon. All the staff have been lovely and helpful. The hotel has a really cool atmosphere and laid back energy. We got a small room with balcony and it’s been 10/10. The room is small but just fine for the two of us. The bed is extremely comfortable with high quality cotton linen. The bathroom is well stocked with really nice toiletries and towels. Everything is perfectly clean. The tv is good with lots of free premium movies and channels in all languages available. The location is really great as a tourist to get around. We especially loved being able to walk to many great restaurants and shops nearby. If you want to hack the Lisbon hills, highly recommend starting a walking day out at the hotel and making your way down to the water, stopping along the way at the lovely cafes, shops and parks along the way. The streets outside are very loud and busy but this was no issue as the sound proofing in the room was great. Good mini fridge and safe also available in the room. The breakfast buffet was a highlight with many options that were so tasty. The fresh orange juice was a favourite! The roof top bar was awesome for the views but keep in mind it’s pretty pricey -especially the drinks. We enjoyed it though! Overall, would recommend Mama and would happily come back in the future! Thanks Mama! We had a great time.

The staff were amazing with a very warm welcome for my mom who was celebrating an early 70th birthday. They were extremely helpful throughout her stay and offered her a very friendly atmosphere away from home. It was perfect stay for her. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience staying here! It’s in a great part of town… walkable to shops and restaurants. The staff was incredibly friendly. The restaurant had great food and great bartenders and the breakfast was amazing! 10/10
