Very noisy HVAC, lost reservation

Even though the Coast hotel sent me an email acknowledging my reservation, upon arrival I was informed that I had no reservation. Apparently this was somehow my fault. I did get a room after much back and forth. The room was renovated but the HVAC was not and the thru-the-wall heating unit was very noisy. We tried turning it off but it still made noise so we unplugged it and put all our warm clothes on so we could sleep through the -25 temperatures. No blackout drapes in the room.

My favourite thing about this hotel is the great restaurant that is attached. It is consistently excellent. I don’t like the location as I always look out on beer and cannabis stores and it’s on a busy, sometimes very noisy street. It is convenient for driving places though

Overall good but a few things I as a someone who travels often didn't like. Lobby was a HUGE waste of space. Lots of luggage carts but VERY hard to navigate the narrow halls and room entrances. Location of ice machine not well marked. Bathroom SUPER DARK! Three very dim bulbs (to save money I guess?) So dark my wife couldn't apply make up. Bathroom fan either doesn't work or not in the design? Mirror steamed up so it was useless.

Booked this hotel as reviews said rooms were renovated. Checked in and the Representative said I had a nice room. My carpet had tons of large stains. It was ripped all across the edge to the bathroom which had nails poking through which I didn’t notice until I stepped on them without shoes on. Lamp Shades looked like they had been tossed around the room. I went to grab my pjs out of my bag in the corner that night and noticed a nail clipping in the carpet. The plug on the light didn’t work so I looked behind the nightstand for a plug and the buildup of dirt on the cords and rug back there was disgusting. Needless to say in the morning checking out I brought up the nails in the rug to the guy at the front desk and he said “funny story about that” we are actually getting the carpets replaced. There is a guy here today. I was like I don’t think it’s funny stepping on nails in your bare feet. Not really the answer I was looking for. At that point with a line up of people behind me I didn’t bother with everything else.
