My buddies and I booked at the Golden Nugget for a guys weekend because it was cheaper than some other options and we wanted to stay on Freemont. I got there before them and went to the lobby to check in. There was 1 person working the counter and they were addressing an issue with another customer. I tried to use the check in machines and they kept erroring out. But since there was only 1 employee available at the time, I waited in line with others for almost 10 minutes until a 2nd employee came out from the back room. The 2nd issue I had with the Golden Nugget was room quality. We stayed in the Carlson Towers. The overall room was pretty basic, nothing special. The bed sheets and pillows were clean, tv worked, and so did the heater. The issue was the bathroom. First, there was an amazing amount of lime/mold build up on the shower head. I couldn’t believe no one cleaned it. Secondly, my tub barely drained. After I took a 10min shower, the tub had filled up with water up to my ankles. It was pretty gross. We did the Vegas thing pretty hard, so I just kind of dealt with the bathroom situation and never said anything to the staff. Shame on me for that. But also, come on. Someone had to notice the shower head and tub were an issue when they were cleaning it!

My room wasn't entirely clean. Trash had an empty water bottle. Linen didn’t smell fresh. It had a musty smell. I kept sneezing. The shower head had calcium on it and couldn’t get a good shower without having water splash out and plumbing noise after 5 minutes into showering. Valet guy insisted I self park and when I said I wanted to valet, he said I would have to tip prior because they are busy and I would have to wait a while for my car. Not cool!

Fremont Street is noisy

Nice room size. Clean. Loud street partying heard every night, even on the 15th floor in the back of the hotel. Free parking! All the hotels on the strup cost $20 a day so staying on Fremont street is great.

They charge a resort fee of $53/day regardless of whether you use it or not. So why not just include that in the cost shown on Expedia? They are just being dishonest. Room was ok, bathrooms were still dirty, somebody else long hair on the floor and shower. Bathrooms in the public areas were really smelly had dirty. They don't provide any transportation that i could find, but not too surprising. Food options were very limited, mediocre and not a great value. Overall a poor value even for the supposed low cost.
