Great hotel

This is a high quality hotel in an excellent location with great rooms. I couldn't think of a better place to stay while vacationing in Kyoto. Great architecture, great views, with the station, shops, and restaurants literally out the front door and under the same roof.

The Granvia Kyoto is a lovely hotel with excellent rooms. However, the advertised gym is not an amenity offered, but a pay per use gym; and that is not mentioned in the Hotels.com listing. Transparency would be nice. Even with paying AUD11 to visit the gym, the staff were not enforcing hygiene guidelines about sanitizing the machines and the use of sweat towels. Yuk!

This is a very nice, modern hotel with direct access to a major rail hub. The downside to that is the sounds of the trains, which were audible in our 14th floor room. The windows were well insulated, so there wasn't much noise - just a background, clickety-clack as the trains went by. The lower floors might be worse. I also did not like the exceptionally long walk to our hotel room from the elevators. On the plus side is that the beds and bedding were very comfortable and everything was spotless. Warning if you are traveling with kids. My 17 year old son joined our trip after we booked our room. There was no way to pay a premium to allow him to stay with us, so we had to pay for an extra room for him and our 13 year old daughter. (Absolute max of three per room.) That was the opposite reaction than we had at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. At the Imperial, they rolled in an extra bed and charged $130 more per night. No big deal. Plus, the PJs at the Imperial were so much better!

Best central location to stay for getting around, shopping, and food. The hotel was fantastic and the staff was so attentive. It’s a huge station so be warned. Getting lost is a thing but I can think of worse places to be lost in!!! It was the perfect stay.

Great views of Tokyo tower

A great hotel especially for the price. Service was great. Location convenient for bullet trains and metro. We had a nice view of Kyoto tower.
