The hotel is really cool with an artsy vibe offering some retro style experiences as well. The room is small but just right for what a person needs. Its an older building so some sounds come through but the bed is so comfortable. Loved the deep tub and all the amenities available. Breakfast was really good as well, offering a daily sandwich and a selection of healthy offerings. It's in a pretty central area though nothing is close, everything is at least a 15 minute walk away or a short subway or bus ride. They do offer bike rentals for a coupme of hours for free though.
This hotel is definitely different from many others as the lobby itself is like a contemporary art gallery. If you are a person who really enjoys the aesthetics this place is definitely for you. Room itself has a semi-industrial vibe to it as the doors are extremely sturdy.
Absolutely loved this hotel! It’s so well furnished and worth every single penny! They were very kind, helpful, and friendly!! I loved the amenities of this hotel, it was designed wonderfully, and they offered so many little details to your stay. Breakfast, a bar location, washing/drying facilities, bath salts, a smoking room, a microwave, and bikes to rent for free!
Anteroom is a bit away from it all - which can be appealing after the hussle and bussle of being a tourist! But you do need to factor in more time to get anywhere.
The building is not new, and may feel a bit off-putting when you fist walk in, but the designers have done a great job creating very comfortable and cleverly designed rooms. The communal spaces are both funky and practical
I stayed in a single room and was happy with it- see photos. I had a window I could open. Unfortunately the glass in the window is frosted, so when the window is closed - you can't see out of it.
I recommend asking for a high/top floor - to look out over the rooftops to the mountains.
The buffet breakfast was pretty good - except for the pastries which I found bland, but the rest of the food was both flavourful and healthy.
Would I stay here again? Quite possibly - if the rate was reasonable and I was staying for a few days and wanted some "chill time" while walking to trains. Otherwise I would stay closer to the Nishiki market area.
Quaint place. Charming decor in the foyer. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean, shower facilities were surprisingly very good. Breakfast was nice, and the staff friendly respectful.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We had 2 separate stays in this hotel-3 nights in room 168 and 2 nights in room 166. They both were garden view with wooden bath tubs.
Room 168 had a nice mini garden, but room 166’s garden literally only had a dead tree and nothing else which we were disappointed by. That was not a garden view but just a dead tree view.
Both rooms had heavy doors to the bathrooms and restrooms which were annoying because they wouldn’t stay open nor had door stoppers to keep open when needed. The knobs were extremely loud when opening/closing that they would wake up people you’re traveling with at night.
Wooden tubs were great. No bath salt allowed in the tubs to protect the condition of wood, but hinoki wood chips were provided.
Customers with regular tubs were able to make a compliment bath salt with scent of your choice by the front desk as much as they want which was nice!
All the electronics, bedding and utilities looked well taken care of, clean and great qualities.
The staff even remembered that we like to sleep on extra pillows, so when we came back to stay the second time, the extra pillows were already in our room which made us feel valued and cared.
They were able to keep our large suitcases at 24h-staffed front desk before and after our stay which was very helpful.
Staff customer service was excellent.
We hope that some changes are made to the bathroom/restroom doors and the garden view.
This hotel was perfect for our 2 nights stay, it's got laundry station, a vending machine, free bike rental (up to 2 hours) offers bath salts and essential oils. There are plenty of convenience store around the area and the train station is only a few minutes walk away. If you're looking for a nice and spacious room for your stay check out Hotel Anteroom in Kyoto.
This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The interior looks like an art gallery. Beyond the cleanliness and facilities, you can choose your essential oil bath salts, take a relaxing bath, and enjoy the comfort of the room. In the morning, the breakfast selection is so rich and curated, it feels like that of a Michelin-starred restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved my time here!
It was a nice place. Room size was good. Only down fall is it smelled like smoke even thought i got a non smoking room. Can smell the smoke from downstairs or one of the other rooms nearby that was smoking but not sure. Shower drain ran slow too. Everything else was ok. It was nice and on the quiet side of kyoto which was nice.
Excellent. Cool artsy ambience yet very good service. Every staffs are kind and nice. The room was cute and comfortable. I will definitely come back if I will stay in Kyoto
