All reviews shown are from real guest experiences. Only travelers who have booked a stay with us can submit a review. We verify reviews according to our guidelines and publish all reviews, positive or negative.
First of all the pictures advertised are way different versus the actual photos.
1. Elevators - stinky and terrible as to how it’s built.
2. Room - we booked two rooms for 4 pax each and the space for each room was limited. Only one of us could move around at each time.
3. Power socket - the hotel could have provided universal adaptors as a courtesy. Instead, they require the customers get their own for the stores in the ground floor earn income.
4. We added one additional night of stay for 2 pax and the room they gave us was good for one room. And they ask us to leave a good review on Expedia before leaving the property— which we declined because there is no WAY I’m leaving them a good review.
5. The blankets and towels have stains left.
6. The door lock was out of battery and had to go to the reception on the 16th floor.
7. Hot and cold shower works bad.
This is a terrible hotel to stay at Hong Kong.
Any property that had Chungkik Mansion as the location is terrible. Do not book this hotel if you want a comfortable rest.
About the location:
This place is infested with people trying to sell you food and rooms. Gets annoying after a few visits.
This building has at least 5 blocks (A-E) each with two elevators (even vs odd floors). They are almost always full and you will have to wait in queue to get to one of them. Also if you are on one of the lower floors, you might have to wait a very long time because the tiny elevators are full to get you.
Careful if you decide to use the stair, I twisted my foot climbing down the extremely tiny stairs.
About Singapore Hostel,
For new year's eve the owners were offered more money than my booking and they gave away our room. Each night we had a different room, both rented by them from another hostel in the same building.
The shower head is right over the commode and they claim this is because of Hong Kong rules, this is not the case.
Super terrible and horrible stay at Singapore Hostel. Only 1 left at the building, and check in and out need to go to others level, waste more than half and hours for waiting the left. Hotel is very dirty and the water heater no function at all. I booked a double bed, but they give us a queen bed and a single bed. I never ask for more, i just wish to leave the place. The building surround with Indian guy and keep looking on you. Girl please be careful when you stay there.

Basic HK budget hotel
A very bare-bones Hong Kong hotel in Chug King Mansion. The check in was a bit weird because it’s on the 16th floor, but the 8th floor was stated on the hotel confirmation. Also, there’s no sign for “Singapore Hostel” or hotel on the ground level which led to confusion as to where to check in. I would recommend this hotel only for those who have a tight budget and very basic needs.
I must admit when I first arrived, the location although well connected by the MTR was a bit off putting. It was not clear the building was a hostel and is shared by shops and public housing so we weren't sure if we were in the right place. However, the staff were very friendly, the room was clean, comfortable bed etc. So if you're looking for a cheap place to stay and you don't like to spend too much time in the hostel then it's perfect. The wifi was free and we had no issues connecting to it either.
Address of hostel listed as 8F but yet somehow, check-in was at 16F ? Room was super small but adequate for me. What surprised me was that the staff cleaned the room & made the bed everyday
Arrived Singapore Host 8 floor rang bell no responce.was told to go 16 floor by STRANGER to bookin. NO SIGHT SAYING GO TO 16 FLR.Room clean and modern BUT VERY VERY SMALL.The Indain rec, owner was very unhelpful. Got back to HK Stayed @ Other Local Hostal BIGGER CHEAPER NICER.
Environment are not safe, we witnessed an arrest made by the local police at the lift lobby upon arrival at the hotel block. Need to wait for the lift for as long as 15 minutes...Blanket are dirty...... We changed hotel the next day for a safer and a cleaner stay....Is not idea for families stay.....
The room looked way different from the photos. The aircon wasn't working for two nights and they only provided one towel for me and my partner. Staff constantly knock on our door to ask us if we're checking out. If you don't care about your comfort during your stay, I recommend this place as it's close to all the shops and train station.
Good hotel in a central location.
Chungking Mansions is a little, but it's by far the best value for hotels in Hong Kong. If you just ignore the touts and hawkers in the lobby it's honestly fine.
My friend and I arrived around 10am which was before the check-in time of 2pm. However, since they had a room ready they still allowed us to check in. The staff were very pleasant the whole time.
The room itself was OK. Terribly small, but that's true of everything in Hong Kong. Two single beds with around 20cm between them, so when my roommate passed I had to sit on the bed to let him through. I also had a very scenic view of the pipes and radiators running outside the building. It was really clean though. There's a TV provided as well.
The toilet is just barely larger than the toilet bowl, so every time you shower the bowl gets drenched. It was so small I had to put on my pants outside the toilet since they'd get wet otherwise. Hot water is provided, and your sheets and towels are laundered every day.
Overall, a good hotel for the price. I wouldn't bring kids here, but for a place to rest your head it's decent.

The first night I didn't receive the room that I booked online. They gave me an old room with two single beds in stead of a a double bed, the window of the bathroom door was broken. I tried to book 3 extra nights with hotels.com but they weren't available, so I have to book it direct with the hotel, paying more fir the room and loosing the benefits of doing it online. For the extra nights they gave me a better room with a double bed. The hotel is in repairs but the value prize-room was good, the people was very friendly and helpful. The location is great.
