Only one hanger for three guests. Not enough cups, plates, and cutlery for a "deluxe" room. No pots and pans. No hairdryer. No TV channels were installed, and the batteries in the TV remote leaked. The swimming pool is laughable. This property has (nominally) four stars. Highly overrated, two and a half would be closer to the truth. The only truly positive thing is the washer and dryer in the room. Helped a lot when we got soaked by the rain.

The food was good. I like that housekeeping happens everyday. Shuttle service option is not your typical airport transportation, but more taxi services the hotel contracts with for guests. You pay those drivers directly.

I liked nothing about this hotel. Bathrooms are not clean and they don't provide safety for there guess. I checked in on 5/22 after 11pm Jamaica time, I thought I was going to a clean room, nope my bath tub was dirty and lower pipe was broken, the housekeeping supervisor told me maintenance can only fix the pipe but they don't clean the tub. Mind you he is the housekeeping supervisor and he should go up and clean it, I asked for cleaning supplies to do it myself, so they changed my room to a queen bed with balcony for me and my 13 yr old. I was too tired to argue so I took it. I went to check the room, bath tub was clean, we showered went to bed. Woke up Friday morning went out to balcony, then tried closing it, it does not lock, meaning anyone can enter your room from the balcony. I went to front desk, asked how does it lock, they sent maintenance up to show me, the guy said it uses a key, so I asked for the key. I left the hotel all day, got back they can't find the key, so they were giving me another room, this time its a 2 bedroom with balcony, the front desk girl went to show me the room, same thing balcony door needs a key to lock it. How is this safe for female travelers, I asked? So, I got moved back to my original room from the Thursday night, still with a dirty tub, this time the front desk girl looked in the tub and saw what I complained about originally, still never got cleaned so again I asked for the stuff to do it. All and all the same supevisor cleaned it.

The R hotel was convenient, accommodating, and very comfortable. It is impressive that there was a washer and dryer in the room. The room was properly cleaned (mopped) daily, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The Jamaican breakfast was great, the continental breakfast was not bad. It would be good to add alternative milk options. The gym was respectable, please install pedals on the stationary bike though. A fantastic overall 4-star experience for a sensible cost. If we stay in Kingston in the future, this is where we will go.

First, I stayed at the R Hotel for 8 days. The R Hotel is a solid choice when staying in Kingston Jamaica. It clearly tries to get traffic from the S Hotel (Spanish hotel) just down the road but these two hotels are in their own classes. The things I wasn't a fan of.... one of the elevators was not operating properly during my stay so I had to figure out ElevatorGames which just means I had to figure out when the left elevator was going up so I could catch it. It would have been better to just shut down that elevator due to the size and guest count of the hotel. Also, when I asked for laundry service, I asked for my linens to be put on hangers as it is very easy to wrinkle. They placed them in the exact dirty bag I put my clothes in. Only small other item (personal preference) is that I wished the water could have been hotter. So now for the good parts! The rooms are super clean, great views (albeit Kingston meaning you are in the city and no where near the beach). The rooms were quiet and the staff are all super friendly. The breakfast was decently tasty and is in line with most major hotels breakfasts btu they did have different foods. Speaking of food.. their Jerk Chicken was AWESOME!!! I ordered it many of the days I stayed. If you go to the restaurant, you have a fantastic view of the city and mountains. I loved just sitting up there having a drink and or eating meals. Overall, I'd stay here again.

We had a great stay. Great customer service. My sister and her husband also stayed and they had a great experience as well. She rated this over the experience they had at Sandals. This is always my choice of hotel when Im in Kingston.

Second stay this week, standard room this time, if possible travellers should get the room with washer/dryer and kitchenette. We were spoiled by our first stay. Breakfast was on the skimpy side today. Maybe it’s better if you go closer to 7am. Still happy we discovered this spot.

If you need to be in Kingston, this is the perfect place to be. Budget friendly, central location, washer & dryer in the unit, kitchenette and dining on site. 5th floor, open window dining/bar areas with great city & moutain view. Slim, lap pool adds a unique element to the space. Breakfast included in the rate is an extra bonus.
