Night stay on the outskirts of Keswick.

We stayed for a night on the 6th of February 25. A nice welcome but I’d say that the hotel needs a little ‘love’ but it is currently getting upgraded so that may come. Our room was warm and the bed comfortable. Used the shower which also was good. Breakfast is self service and the food was warm and well presented. I would use the hotel again if I wanted a cheap place to stay. It is around a mile from Keswick and if you walk go the long way round because the quicker way is full of large puddles and can be a bit hazardous and you might need wellies !! One more thing is that book your taxi from the hotel because there are very few if any taxis in Keswick.

Average.

The hotel is in need of a huge amount of tlc. A lot of time, effort and money would be required to sort this out. It is very tired looking and the interior definitely needs, at the very minimum, a good coat of paint. The carpets looked as if they hadn't been hoovered in a long time, especially in the corridors. Having said that, our bedroom and bathroom were okay. The bedding and towels were spotlessly clean and there was always plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good. However the television in our room was not working for the duration of our stay. The hotel staff were disappointingly not able to resolve this problem.

The bar and dining areas were cold. My room was warm and comfortable. Dining was very good. Charging for parking in their own car park was not good. My bathroom needs to be modernised with a better shower

Lovely warm welcome on Sunday afternoon from the lady on reception. Room clean and tidy, maybe a little dated but didnt spoil our experience

Extremely poor, photos are highly out of date. Broken window & bed, left early. Zero response from the hotel on our concerns.

Great service

I was planning on camping a couple of nights near Keswick, weather not looking good for a late arrival so decided to stay at Derwentwater Hotel... so glad I did! - At check in I was greeted in a really professional manner, in the bar the staff were super friendly! That was my opening night. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, set me up fuel wise for my planned ascent of Skiddaw (walking past a farm I camped at 47 years ago on my first Scout Camp!!) My hike up Skiddaw, descending to Keswick and then back to hotel was great (nothing to do with hotel of course) BUT on return all staff I spoke to were interested in my day, to the extent that I was chatting to the hotel manager for over an hour!!!! This level of customer service and interest is rare and is really valued by me! Thank you to all at the Derwentwater Hotel for making my stay so enjoyable. If you want a pristine, brand new hotel - well, pay the price for it - but if you want great service, an amazing breakfast and the perfect location head to Portinscale!!

Comfortable stay, go for the dinner package!

We stayed 2 nights at the Derwentwater Hotel. It’s a bit of a quaint traditional English hotel. They seem to have a new and more modern wing and the original bits as we had 2 rooms and one looked a lot newer than the other. We would highly recommend getting the package with dinner as you get a 3-course dinner, which is great value and not to mention delicious. Breakfast is a full buffet spread which was great too! Sheets were clean and good water pressure for the shower. There’s also a nice little bar, and some board/card games in the conservatory. Parking at the back of the hotel is £5 per night though.

Overall i was a bit disappointed with the stay. The room had not been vacuum cleaned. The bathroom was very dated and is in much need of modernising. The shower kept loosing pressure. The staff were lovely and happy to help. Breakfast was very nice
