Wonderful

Our room was in the outer building that is best described as a shed - we had to walk through a musty conservatory, past old furniture (including divan bed bases and bare mattresses), up an old rickety staircase to reach our room that had seen better days - thick cobwebs on the curtain pelmets and light shades.
Beautiful building, staff and service very good. Looking forward to going again.
Room was big and well decorated, outlook from the room not as good, view of the back of the building and large windows which could see into our room.
We were supposed to have a view of the hillside, however, they did ask if we wanted a twin or double room, which maybe could have influenced the view but we weren't informed. Wouldn't stop us going again as we didn't spend much time in the room anyway.
We liked the room - large etc, we accept the fact that as a Victorian building it was not going to look brand new, but that’s one of the things we enjoyed and why we chose the hotel.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and there were enough of them. There were plenty of areas to sit and relax with comfortable sofas and chairs.
The restaurant food was also good, an extensive breakfast buffet and a very good evening menu and wine list.
Rooms were well appointed and clean. Staff very friendly and efficient, food very good indeed. All in highly recommend for a certain age group.

Liked: Staff & service
The size of the room was great, fantastic bed. No on-demand tv available just terrestrial.
it was a bit warm on the top floor so i was glad to discover a fan (although i had to clean the dust off it before using).
The bathroom is old fashioned with the shower fluctuating in temperature. The bath hadn't been cleaned properly, there were hairs and shampoo stains - so i had to clean it before having a bath.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the surrounding grounds are lovely.
I would have expected a bit more attention to detail on the cleaning for the price of this hotel.
The lovely grounds,
Plenty of seating and lounges
A well stocked bar kept spotless by the bar staff
We had a lovely large room with a comfortable 5ft bed.
Dining room was spotless, comfortable and there was plenty of space from other tables
The waiters were lovely and always had a smile and we were never waiting for anything
We had a lovely stay and will certainly be back again
The meal times are a little too short with breakfast time only being 8.30am until 9.30am
All staff were helpful, friendly and polite

We were able to use the beautiful gardens in the afternoon, as we had gorgeous weather.
We were given a room which was in the station house not the hotel which wasn’t what we had booked, we felt very excluded from the hotel.
After talking to a member of staff she told me the station house is for guest staying with dogs and that’s why we were put there. We don’t have a dog so don’t understand why we were put there. I have asthma and also an allergy of animal fur so I was upset by this.
We thought we would become regular guest at the Keswick country hotel as our Son has just moved to the area but unfortunately this won’t be the case.
