You get what you pay for. The beach was beautiful, the location is convenient and the hotel room met the basics. Staff is lacking any type of service/care abd the room wasnt the cleanest

Dated rooms. Partial ocean view room meant a small stretch of water could be seen when leaning out of the balcony. Be aware no elevators, hard to get baggage to 3rd floor, luckily the porter brought up suitcase quickly. Front desk staff was amazing, kind, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. The bar was one of the best kept secrets on the island. Awesome pool never too crowded. Other vacationers seemed very happy.

The Islander is located in the middle of Kauai which makes it nice to drive to activities. The Coconut Market Place directly across from the property is a little gem, very nice to have an ABC store, a great Thai food takeout place as well as more stores and places to eat. The Lava Lava restaurant is next door and is also a good place to eat but more expensive. The room at the Islander is average but they upgraded me from garden view to ocean front which was awesome and "made" my stay! Overall, it's a great value and a little gem of a property.
