Fabulous, Quiet, & classy.
Wonderful, relaxing getaway alone, for small group of close friends, or couples. The hotel itself is quiet, but not dead. It's not for guests looking for night life or heavy partying. The spa is a sanctuary...quiet space.

For the price point of this beautiful historic hotel, The Elms Hotel leaves something to be desired for the little things that would make a huge difference. For instance, the very small bathroom/shower has a slick shower pan. It would be great if there was either a textured shower floor or at least a shower mat to help reduce the risk of slipping and falling. Also the toilet paper was very cheap and sub par. I would suggest that your guests need to feel pampered or at least in keeping with the cost of staying here. We were also underwhelmed with the food in the coffee shop. On an up note, our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable! We enjoyed a room service breakfast our first morning and it was very nice! We were celebrating our first anniversary and enjoyed a very nice and truly wonderful dinner at the Three Owwls Restaurant! Compliments to the chef and wait staff for a special meal and dining experience.

My only complaint is that the walls are thin- we could hear the laughter, sounds, and conversations of the people next to us and I don’t think it’s because they were loud. They were up till 3am or so. I think they could try to separate big groups from being next door smaller ones that don’t know each other.

Such a beautiful resort hotel with history, grace and charm - coupled with gorgeous decor and a friendly and helpful staff. The sort of place that makes you feel special just because you are there! The King Parlor Suite we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and lovely to relax in. We truly felt that we’d gotten away from it all during our 2-day escape.

So expensive for little reward.
So over priced. I understand it has great history. But man the prices for anything ate outrageous. Plus only thing around is hotel. I personally wont do this trip again. For a couple it cost about 1000 dollars for 1 day.

The Elms is a beautiful hotel built in 1912 so it has an authentic early 20th century charm. It is architecturally beautiful from it's elegant main lobby to the curved upper seating in the Three Owls restaurant to the two story skylight in the main dining room; really a treat for the senses. The food was very good at the restaurant and while we were there they put on a Thanksgiving buffet that was very well attended and held in the beautiful main dining room. The rooms are small by todays standards but in top condition. The beds were particularly comfortable. The pools and hot tub were beautiful and clean. The weight room was well equipped with lots of machines and some free weights. The staff was professional and attentive. We were there during a snow and the grounds crew had all the side walks clear and salted before day break! This place is a jewel in the heartland of America, well worth the time and money if you are in the area.
