I hate resorts and only stayed here so my kid could have fun playing with other kids before I ruined the rest of his day with a cultural experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the Outrigger. The staff were great, the pool was nice, the food was absurdly expensive and boring, but I liked the local markets and food trucks that came on the lawn, and being steps away from the manta rays was WILD. Do NOT miss out on swimming with mantas it blew our minds. Loved the gym, basketball and pickleball to keep child entertained. Got to watch the fire Lua from my balcony. Would def recommend for ppl with kids.

We really enjoyed the pool area. The kids loved the slide. Lots of lounge chairs and ease of switching wet towels for dry ones. The pool cabana staff was especially friendly. Both front desk employees I encountered were Not very nice or friendly.

We love the Outrigger at Kona . From check in to check out it is a pleasant stay. Only complaint is why are the toilets in the room so high? I am 5’6” and my feet barely touch the floor. Seems odd.

Pros: The amenities are amazing, the pool area, slide, Gym, arcade, convenience store, and overall property is really amazing. The room was nice but to be fair we stayed in the far wing from the main area so it was less desirable than the ocean facing rooms. Cons: $30 a day for parking, $35 a day for the amenities whether you use them or not. Lots of additional costs that are not included in your initial booking so be prepared for that. We ended up paying $500+ more than we paid for initially. We didn't eat at the restaurant for breakfast because it's buffet style and $60 a plate. Ouch. Plus from what I heard from other guests it was not worth the price, not even close. Basically plan to pay a lot more than you were initially charged for your room.

The overall experience was fine, but I don't think it's worth the price. The view of the ocean front room is hidden by the building wall, so I can only see a partial view. The shower water is cold at night. Valet parking is not a 24-hour service.

Pool is nice and room was spacious with nice sea view. Gym was well appointed. Valet service was great. The hotel has one evening dinner venue with very limited options. The room lacked consistent hot water for showers etc. The hotel constantly had pools of standing water around the public areas and on our balcony as there is improper drainage everywhere after it rains. Staff in the shops were quite grumpy and unhelpful.
