We were not made aware of the construction work going on at the hotel. From very early on in morning alot of construction noise coming from 3rd floor. No bar or restaurant to go to on the 3rd floor as it was being done up. I know hotels need to be updated from time to time but as i said we were not made aware at time of booking.

Poor check-in service. It took about 4 hours to get the room we booked. We were told that there’s no rooms available. I also booked this hotel because I saw the free breakfast option but come to find out I had to opt in to that service. I ended up paying $42 for breakfast buffet. Extremely overpriced. The location was great because it was next to a train stop and the view of manhattan was also amazing!

Everything are great but we stay while they have renovations. The construction staffs start drilling and hammering at 8:30am. We understand but still not the most comfortable situation.

Hotel did not receive my booking information
Hotel did not have our reservation information from hotels.com despite paying in full months in advance and receiving confirmation of booking. When we checked in it seemed other guests were having the same issue including our friends who were getting married and staying in a suite. After half an hour the hotel was eventually able to book us a different room at no extra charge. Hotels.com was able to contact the hotel to confirm our original booking and even refunded the original charge, which was a nice surprise. I don't know what would have happened if they didn't have extra rooms. The front desk looked like a temporary setup. I'm not sure if the hotel was undergoing renovations and that maybe affected the reservation system. The system they used was incredibly slow. I would not risk an important visit by booking here again.

Hotels.com did not tell us the hotel was undergoing renovations. So there was construction noise starting at 8am!! No restaurant or lounge. Then management did not think - golly, it’s 17 degrees out for days, there is no room service, and delivery service will get guests food that is frozen cold when they get it to you - but maybe a microwave in the front lobby might help! Breakfast was nice with very good and friendly service - but really, make shift buffet really worth $40? No other food available close by. Also, could not solve my Hyatt club number problem

Despite being located in NJ, it's actually very convenient travelling to downtown NYC via PATH. Hoboken (great dining options and lower priced than NYC) and Newport (shopping) are also just 1 - 2 stops away. My room came with views of midtown NYC. What I didn't like were the thin walls. We had a noisy neighbor for 1 out of 6 nights we stayed and their voice permeated all the way passed midnight. The other peeve is the toilet light that switches off automatically after a preset time (it did so while I was soaking in the bath tub).

Not so quiet stay..
The hotel is experiencing upgrades so there is a makeshift reception that gets easily over crowded by the main front door. Was woken up very early in the mornings with hammering and drilling right above our room. Very limited hotel menu for food on the property.
