I stayed here as my last night in Ithaca after my son’s graduation from the hotel school. The morning we were to leave (and drive 16 hours across the country) the hotel did not have hot water. I understand they were having a maintenance issue but the service recovery was nonexistent. I was told, “sorry for the inconvenience.” I was not offered any sort of compensation. A hotel needs to provide 2 services - a bed and a functioning bathroom. I could not sit around and wait for the hot water to be fixed so I took a FREEZING shower. At checkout neither desk staff mentioned the water or asked about my stay. As I left I told them I was very unhappy about their response to the water and one of the 2 male staff members literally smirked at me. This was at 8:30 am on May 27th if Statler management wanted to identify the smirker, unfortunately I didn’t get his name. Pretty poor service from the school of hospitality - my son was embarrassed when I told him about my experience. He has worked at the Statler as well.
