If you're looking for paradise lost, you've found it again. The private beach access and meticulously kept grounds was fantastic. Its a step back in time, the way things used to be. Loved it,and the genuine people who are your hosts.

Very friendly owners. The property is well kept. The room smelt a bit musty when we first arrived. Just needed a little airing out. Room was very clean though and cosy. The private beach was a bonus as was the campfire they light up in the common grassy area by the motel rooms. No view of the lake from the motel. You walk across the highway to access. An enjoyable short walk through the woods to the beach.

The motel is a quaint, rustic, very well kept, north-woods property a few miles west of Ontonagon, MI. It is run by a couple who are welcoming and helpful. This is how rural vacation hotels used to be 50 years ago. The very clean rooms are in good condition and contain all the amenities such as mini-frig, microwave, and wifi.

This is a nice, clean property and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It has new HVAC units which we did not use. It needs more light in the bedroom and an electrical outlet in the bath. The bath fan starts on when the light is turned on and is VERY LOUD which is a problem during the night.

Good news and bad news about this place. Bad news…place welcomes pets and therefore the rooms have a distinct urine odor—we had two rooms and both were affected. Also, sheets and bedding are over-laundered, so if you’re bothered by strong laundry scents that’s a problem. If you can get past those things, the good news is the grounds are beautifully kept and there’s beach access to a vast amount of beach walking along the lake.

Great place! My husband and I were traveling for our anniversary. We've never been here before, but the owners were so nice it felt like we were staying with friends. (The owner actually sat around the campfire and chatted with the guests). Lake Superior access is across the road. The road wasn't busy when we were there so it was quick and easy to cross, and SO worth it! The beach was quiet and beautiful, and watching the sunset there over lake superior was amazing. Our queen room was quaint and comfortable with an old log cabin feel and an eagle theme. My only complaint would be that the bathroom in our room was kind of small, but at least it had a bathroom so I can't complain too much about that. :-) We will definitely be back with our kids to try out one of their cabins.

Magical little place in the middle of so many outdoor adventures! From beaches, waterfalls, lakes, bears and northern lights....you won't be disappointed. The owners and townspeople are the kindest you will meet. Sunshine motel was quiet, clean and quaint, we will be back.
