Not able to use the restaurant for an evening meal on the 2nd night was a bit disappointing as they said they was a little too busy. As a hotel guest, and as it is no where near any pther amenities, i would expect a meal.
Enviable views, location and building. Great for a pint beside the North Tyne.
Service however was generally lacking. Dinner menu didn't match what was shown on the website. Booked a double room but only had tea and coffee for one and no toiletries. Toilet facilities and leisure facilities also in need of an upgrade. Unfortunate for a hotel in a plum location.
Lovely 3 night stay. My only issue was that the rooms are not serviced each day, supposedly you can request this by putting the sign on the door. I did this but it still didn’t get done. This means the milk, tea and coffee are not refreshed Every day I had to ask at reception for more and as there are no phones in the rooms this is a real pain if you forget. Part of the hotel experience is to have your room done each day. Apart from that a lovely hotel gorgeous view of the garden and river from our room and really nice to sit out in the garden if the weathers good enough

Lovely hotel, excellent staff. Slippery shower was a worry
Hotel has a lovely position next to the river. The receptionist was welcoming, friendly and efficient so a great start. The room was dark because of a tree in full leaf immediately outside the window. At a different time of year this wouldn't be an issue and you'd probably see the river. There was also a large number of gnats in the room probably because of the proximity to the river. Breakfast was disappointing - dried up fried eggs and tomatoes despite going in just after 7.30 when it opens. For just under £150 for one night I was disappointed although nothing was really bad, nothing was special other than the friendliness of those staff that I spoke to.
The "George",on the banks of the North Tyne ,is one of the most delightfully situated places I have ever stayed in.
Staff, friendly and helpful, room very comfortable and a view over the river to the old stone bridge
Lovely walking country, Hadrian's Wall, I hope to come back for a longer stay
This is a lovely hotel, situated a 10 minute drive off the A69, and easy driving distance to Hexham, Corbridge, as well as Cumbria and further reaches of Northumberland. Excellent hotel for walkers.
The hotel has no lift, so if you struggle with mobility I would strongly recommend contacting the hotel prior to visit, and they can put you in a room just off the car park (accessable via a small ramp). Nice food, pleasant staff.
The decor of the room was old and tired. The toilet had a faulty valve which meant the double noise whammy of trickling water and cistern refill all night.
There was no remote for the TV in the room, there should have been but the receptionist, whilst polite and apologetic could not help.
In my opinion the accommodation and food was over priced but probably reflected the captive audience and lack of competition in the area.

Thought entrance to hotel could have been tidier, lots of weeds. Other side looking onto river was nice
