It’s a beautiful old building that works, I am sad that they get poor reviews, it’s comfortable, safe and warm. I would stay again if in the area.

A very traditional hotel with a Scottish themed decor, most appealing! Staff were very polite and friendly. The Cairn is well placed for concerts and town shopping.

Cold, was given some BS about the heating being controlled by an external thermostat that couldnt be turned on. Too many dogs barking at 5am. Dreadful noise passed off as entertainment in the evening.

The main issue is that the food lacked seasoning and was therefore bland. I expect this is down to the current trend of not seasoning food but when you add to that the salt cellars were empty and no salt (or even cutlery) was included in room service, it’s kind of put me off.
