The property is not handicap friendly. I walk with a cane. You have to walk quite a bit, even if you park in a handicap space. There were no luggage carriers, so we had to make two trips. Also, there was no microwave in the room. At this price there should be one.

This most definitely should n9t have a 9.4 rating. It is old, run down and dirty. Photos need to be updated, doesnt look like the same place.

Great stay
This an elegant hotel at the edge of JMU campus. It is not far from dining and shopping. I stayed during Christmas so it was quiet (other than barking dogs next door). My room was the King suite so it had the essentials for cooking and food storage. There was a dining table and a couch in the room. One night I had a cheeseburger and fries from the hotel restaurant and it was delicious put pricey ($21). I didn’t have any issues during this stay and I would stay here again. Next time I will use the gym and indoor pool.

We have stayed several times at the Hotel Madison and have been pleased with our experience. This most recent stay wasn't as wonderful. Whenever we walked into our room we noticed a strong wintergreen smell. That was annoying. The closet had a single hanger in it. We asked the front desk the next morning to supply more hangers. When we returned in the evening there was still only one hanger. Second request did the trick. They only do housekeeping on request. Didn't see any notification of that policy nor were we informed at checkin. So we leave the "do not disturb" sign off the door but the room isn't cleaned when we return. Another annoyance. The hotel is very convenient to all that we wanted to do in Harrisonburg and we have enjoyed it in the past. We'll be back. Hopefully our future stay will be less problematic.

Madison Hotel is our favorite half way stop when driving from Georgia to Connecticut. It's not a typical highway quick stop hotel. A beautiful classy hotel and a quick walk to historic downtown Harrisburg. Great restaurants and bars. A place where we look forward to visit on the long drive!

Improvement Needed/More TLC
We love this hotel! However, we noticed some things that need improvement. The bathroom had stains on the wall - whether from washing hangs or whatever - it did not appear to be clean. Greasy fingerprints on the elevator. We had two beds in our room - my bed - the sheets appeared to have pilling. Pilling happens when fibers break and tangle together, forming small fabric balls, often due to friction or wear. This can occur on sheets made from lower-quality materials or ones that aren’t washed and cared for properly. They were rough to sleep in.

We had a great experience here! The check-in crew were very helpful, quick, and pleasant! The room was clean and bed comfortable. We brought our own pillows and mistakenly left them on our bed when checking out. After realizing what we had done the next evening, I called to see if they had been turned by housekeeping. Andrew checked for me and found them! Thank you Andrew!! We won’t be back that way for a few days, but they are holding them for us. Very helpful and we will definitely stay here again!
