Very clean and wonderful staff. I would have give all areas 5 stars but the hot water did not always work and the walls were very thin, so you could hear the neighbors very easily. Other than that it was great!

Guatape is a gorgeous little town, and La Madriguera is a peaceful place to stay, with splendid views and warm service. You can easily walk to the center. A tuktuk from the square up the hill is 4000 COP ($1.10). Be sure to book a room with balcony. Beds are firm, sheets so soft. And the attached restaurant is simple but marvelous. Breakfast is included. I had dinner there twice. Staff speak some English, but a little Spanish is helpful. Hope I can return to kayak when there’s more water in the lake/reservoir. Guatape deserves more than an hour on a day trip from Medellin. Stay.

Calm and Welcoming
My partner and I had a quick weekend away in Guatàpe and we are so happy we selected La Madriguera Hotel. The owner, I believe her name was Sandra, was so warm and welcoming. The hotel is very close to the centre of Guatàpe, however, it was very quiet at the hotel. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was so lovely and calm in the little restaurant which looked out over the lake.

This hotel is very close to the city and has beautiful views of the Penal. The on the balcony bathtub was most enjoyable. The made to order breakfast was a great way to start the day. The property does have canoes and kayaks available to guests. The room was very simple. There was no coffee maker, television, or room darkening shades. I wish there was a vanity shelf to place my toothbrush and paste, hair brush, etc. and some warmer lighting.

Hospitality is not only about money…
Guatapé is a beautiful city but we had some issues when it came to the place we stayed at. First the reservation was supposed to include a parking (that was the main reason we went there) but it turns out that they didn’t have one and we had to park our car down the hill with no security and had to bring our luggages up. They did not mention in the application that this service was not available at this time. Second, they had constructions all around and the noises were really loud and annoying at 7am ( it was not really their fault since that’s the city, but they could have at least not given us the room in front of them since the hotel was empty and we saw some vacant rooms further away). Me and my friend also reserved a kind sized bed and we ended up having a double bed with a duvet as a bed sheet, no toilet papers in the bathroom and ONE light. Also, the breakfast was supposed to be open until 9.30am, but they told us it was actually 8:30am. Everything could have been forgotten if when we told the desk lady that they could at least have told us about the parking, she replied that « we should have complained yesterday and go to another place » but we couldn’t because we would have been charged the late cancellation fees. Was definitely not worth the 100$/night price. We tried to ask for a small discount because we paid services that were not given to us. The lady refused! Guatapé is a very beautiful and tourist friendly city though.

Great stay by Guatape lake
We had a wonderful.stay in one of the cabins by the lake.The view from the cabin is breathtaking and is very relaxing and makes up for the basic style of the cabin which was a little bit small. Our cabin had little privacy as the cutains that are hard to close didn't cover the whole window. Sandra was really friendly and welcoming. And the place also offers activities on the lake such as paddleboarding and kajaking.

Estos malditos perros de esta propiedad están en Boohking y no hay acceso a este hotel. Las vías de tránsito están cerradas y ellos tomando reservaciones de los clientes. Son unos descarados y charlatanes. No pude llegar al hotel pues todas las vías estaban cerradas. Estuve horas en un tranco. Malditos devuélvanme mi dinero .No pude ni cancelar en booking pues no había internet en esa zona.
