This is a lodge for people who love the outdoors it is super pet friendly and our room was literally in the woods close to the canyon truly a unique experience. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind.
The lodge is absolutely one of our favorites so far. The staff here are the most welcoming. The desk clerks, restaurant, and tavern employees are beyond amazing, Super friendly and helpful in travel and site seeing plans. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone staying in the canyon.
We had a great time Jan 1-3. The rooms are very clean and the food was very good in the cafeteria, something I was really worried about given some reviews I looked up. All four of our entrees were delicious. Grab groceries before you go, the general store is limited and a little pricey (and rightfully so). So convenient to the trails and although we didn’t need the shuttle, we saw it running. $35 is the current fee to drive into the park limits, which is good for a week.
Everywhere so dark. I guess because in National Parks to keep natural as much as they could but so dark everywhere so we had little hard time to find our cabin and quite often got lost lol.
Room was quiet and large enough, heater wasn't too laud. It was little noisy when people were coming in and out because the door made laud noise otherwise, nice and comfortable.
Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet is NOT free, NOT cheap, NO discount for Lodge guests and NOT include drinks, Not much choice of foods, Not even let you take main foods yourself... I imagine they always been asked if buffet is free for guests but NO. NOT even discount for guests and these servers are NOT nice neither :( "So the breakfast buffet for Yavapai Lodge guests is NOT free. You have to pay at the kiosk out there" When I asked...
Location was great, getting up early for the sunrise and venturing out for night sky watch were made easier since we were in the park. Tip, Dining hall food didn't look appetizing, so come prepared with take outs or insta food.

Yavapai Lodge is in a great location to walk to the South Rim trail and then walk in either direction. We walked more than 20kms and the location was perfect.
There's a restaurant, cafe and diner all within a short walk too, plus the large well stocked grocery store is in that same vicinity. There are plenty of food options there and a good selection of beers.
The room was fine and suited us but is showing it's age. Our only frustration was Check In was 3pm and we arrived just after 2pm from a long drive with a toddler. We asked if we'd be able to check in any time before 3pm and were told No, come back at 3pm. This was understandable but it seems most if not everyone was told, not before 3pm, so when we turned up at 3.05pm, there was a queue of 20 people snaking through the small lobby and growing.
Smoothing the check in volume out would help both the check in staff and the guests. Otherwise it was all fine.
