It’s the iconic place to stop in Gallup and I’m glad we did. The Vibe and memorabilia are really fun. Things to note..it’s old, so don’t expect huge rooms and the bathrooms are really tiny. Also the elevator doesn’t always work so if you have issues with mobility then look elsewhere. Staff were friendly and polite. The area outside is definitely pretty bleak at night but I didn’t feel unsafe parking it’s more upsetting to see the poor homeless people in the freezing weather.

The hotel is old and the rooms are small and need to have new furniture and decoration. The entrance hall is beautiful and has a lot of character. However, for the price and location, I was expecting much more.

Fan upstairs above my room #12, was on last night.Dont know if anyone was above us. Parking lot needs to be fixed. I use a walker and it was difficult but I made it. Other than that, I enjoyed the hospitality and Alexa the bartender. Great service.

Decent overnight stay.
This hotel is "unique" - it is a historic hotel with lots of character. It is old and even though we got an executive king room (upgraded from a standard king), the room was tiny with barely any space to move around and it was hot. The AC was not working and the room stayed around 78 degrees. We opened the window to cool it down, which worked, but had to close it at when we went to bed as the window did not have a screen and we did not want to risk critters coming in at night. The bathroom has been remodeled and it was clean with all the amenities you would expect, but it was tiny. It was a good place to stay the night, but we would not stay for more than just one night. Check in was easy and the front desk staff friendly, as was the server at the lounge.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the hotel itself is the attraction. Gallup isn’t the best place but the hotel is a gem. The facility is maintained impeccably and staff are top notch. The restaurant isn’t bad either. Get yourself a drink, sit in the grand lobby and soak it in.

This place was so pretty and lots of history. I felt like back in the past. I was wanting to use the elevator seemed historical but it was out of order. The rooms were name after actors. So much areas for pics. They have a convenient bar and restaurant

Second time at this property and It has become my favorite place to stay with my family while in this area. I like the decor, the historic appeal and the restaurant that I think has the best steak and enchiladas in the area and comfortable beds. The staff has been very nice on both visits and very responsive to our needs. The area away from the property is not an ideal location for much but the El Rancho hotel brightens up the location. We will definitely be back again.

Great throwback hotel. I love to see old things restored and the property owners hit a home run here. The rooms are a fantastic mix of old and new. Often one of the big negatives to old properties is a dearth of outlets for the tech in our lives. Not so at the El Rancho. The lobby is great and the atmosphere charming even if it’s a bit kitschy. The restaurant is decent, not great, but good for Gallup, NM. I will be back.

A wonderful property with so much character and charm. It is definitely a must see. Only dislike was the tiny bathroom. It was fine for the one night stay. Employees are extremely helpful and Leroy the security guard is a gem.

A hotel with a gimmick, albeit with some quirks
Hotel is definitely an experience. Many pictures of old actors and actresses, old Southwest vibes to it. Very charming. All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. The restaurant bar has decent food and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her 2 drinks she ordered. The beds were decent and the room was a good size and clean. While depending on the person it may add to the charm, the hotel is old. Of the 4 windows in our room, only 1 would stay open unassisted. However with the good, comes the down side. I’m not sure if it was our room only, but the bathroom is TINY! So small that you had to sit on the toilet at an awkward angle. Also, the shower was labeled backwards, so it took 3 showers before we figured out that turning the knob to H causes cold water and the C is for hot. Overall, it has a charm to it that reminds you it’s on Route 66 and it’s “vintage” in a good way.
