320$ for a sleepless night in Hampton Inn! Our stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown Gainesville was truly awful. My family and I couldn’t sleep the entire night due to extremely loud noise coming from the street—people shouting, music blasting from cars. The hotel is located right across the street from several restaurants/bars, and the noise carries all the way up to the top floor, where we were staying. That’s how loud it was. The police showed up once and the music stopped briefly, but it started right back up again. I had to get up at 3 a.m. to call the front desk and ask them to call the police again. This back-and-forth went on for most of the night. We were exhausted and frustrated. I had to eventually play sleep meditation music in a loud volume to cancel out the pounding noise a little bit to take a quick nap during the night. We paid $320 for a night of little rest, and the worst part? The hotel refused to offer any refund or compensation. At any other hotel I’ve stayed at, when something this disruptive happens, they’re quick to take responsibility and at least offer a partial refund or credit. Not here. I am not sure that night, if everyone else is sleeping with an earphone on, or if they just gave up calling the front desk. But if you are someone like me, who can't fall asleep during a rock concert, avoid this place at all cost!

RUN DOWN. NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE. BROKEN ITEMS

We have been staying at this property for 10 years. As UF Alum, we come up to Gainesville often. I do not know what happened to the hotel. The staff was rude and not helpful. The hotel is dirty and run down. Our room was never cleaned on the second day of our stay. The coffee pot in our room was broken as well as the outlets in the bathroom. The floor along the baseboards had dirt and dust accumulated. It felt dirty to me. The mattresses were old and lumpy. Not comfortable at all. The duvets were showing age and threads were coming out. My pillow case had stains on it. We will not be returning to this property. The only thing it has going for it is the location.

You can tell this isn’t a Hampton Inn owned a Hampton Inn. It’s not kept up as well as the chain-owned hotels. However the staff was wonderful. So welcoming and helpful.

Our stay was just fine. The hotel is older but accommodations were just fine. Shower was just okay. Hair dryer was on its last leg. Front desk employees were not exceptionally friendly but were very efficient. The location is wonderful and we will here stay again.
