Nice accommodation❣️

A lovely room and people. Not as quiet as one might think being 16 miles off 118.

Inconvenient. Way out of town. Far from the parks. Rough rocky road. If that's what you are looking for go for it. Rooms large enough. Nice climate control units. Decks with chairs and good sunset views. BUT rooms share thin walls with three other rooms. Made for noisy nights. Office woman seemed bothered by customers.

Booked here for the cost savings compared to Terlingua while visiting Big Bend NP. The lodge is a very, very long drive to remote location. Lady who works the office was efficient but not at all friendly. Your "cabin" is actually a quad plex, and you will hear talking from the other three rooms under the same roof sharing the same floor. If other guests are loud it will sound like they are in your room. We left a day early and ate the loss because we couldn't sleep for hearing conversations, toilets flushing, etc. People who run the on-site cafe were very nice and helpful.

Worth the drive!

No welcome email was sent prior to arrival so we were unaware that the main desk closed at 5pm. Further, phone calls to the front desk and the manager went unanswered so it appears that calls are not forwarded after hours. We arrived at 10 pm hoping someone would help us. Thankfully, there was a late check in system established. Room was great, food at the Angry Rabbit was great . . . Everything was perfect with the exception of the administrative part. Now that we know how the site works, I will gladly go back and would happily recommend it to friends and family.

I had assume this was located somewhere close to Turlinga. In fact it is the better part of an hour away so I did not bother. Driving there. Particularly after the gads station attendant noted that there was. At least a 3 mile gravel road that had to be driven on. The driving instructions leave a lot to be desired

Loved the lodge and the service. Very clean. However I wish that the last 3 miles of the road to the lodge was paved/graded. Bone jarring ride back and forth was the one thing I didn’t look forward to.

This property is 16 miles in, off of the main road, into the mountains. The last 3 miles are on an unpaved gravel road. There is no cell service out here. Drove in at night (didnt realise we were drivong theough mountains) and check in process was easy, envelope left with our keys at main office. Map of park is essential, still hard to figure out how to get around, but you get it after the first day. Youre cabin shares wall with others, 4 cabins to 1 building/structure so you will probably have very close neighbors. You are able to hear through the walls. Cabin was nice and rustic. Bathroom does not have any type of fan/moisture ventilation so mold is starting to accumulate above the shower/ceiling. Not pleasant to see. The bread and butter of this place is how dark the sky gets. There is virtually no light pollution, you can faintly see the milky way with the naked eye. We brought cameras and a star tracker and took without question the best best star/milky eay phitos we have wver taken.

We loved our cabin and the views of the dark night sky were incredible. The staff was very friendly and the food and service at Bad Rabbit Cafe was excellent. It was very convenient to have the Bad Rabbit Cafe as an option. The only downfall was the long 16 mile road(last 3 miles are dirt) to reach the property from the main road.

Great place for family

What a delightful place for my grandson and I to stay on our vacation across the great state of TX! Our lodge room was large and clean with a small fridge and our private bathroom. We were traveling in the middle of February and the overnight temp got down to mid 40s but we were perfectly comfortable inside. We put on our winter coats and sat on the lovely deck after dark watching the stars…so many! There’s a great welcome notebook with information about the ranch and the area. Dinner was at the Bad Rabbit, the little on-site restaurant. GREAT burgers and fries! Beautiful location nestled in the shadow of the….butte? Hill? Sorry we only had one night here, would highly recommend.

The cabin we stayed in was rundown, while the other cabins our friends stayed was renovated and much better. The staff were very friendly. The hotel location is a 1.2 hours drive to the national park and a waste of time spending 2.5 hrs back and forth driving.

Off the beaten path for a visit to Big Bend

It's one of the lodging options around the Big Bend NP. It's 16 miles off the highway and the last 3 miles is unpaved, which makes it less than ideal for a multi-day visit to the park. Otherwise it is a reasonable choice to visit the park. The restaurant, Bad Rabbit, at the lodge is better than expected but the in-room WiFi is very bad.

Go for the dark sky

We stayed here to visit the Big Bend National Park. The entrance to the park ended up about an hour away, but our stay was well worth it. We got to experience “Dark Sky” and was absolutely beautiful. The cafe provided excellent service. We would stay again. Very rural but very nice place

This “lodge” was 15 miles down a long road, the first 12 were paved, last 3 were dusty washboard roads. The whole lodge was dusty dirt roads with lots of rocks. Checked in and got our key. It was in the 40s so turned the heater on first thing on the window unit that was 15 years old or more. It took 3 hours to heat up enough. But they close the office at 7 so even if there was a problem, there’s nobody to call until the next morning. They have a little restaurant there and it was Taco Tuesday. Waiter was nice and recommended the tacos. I got chicken and hubby got beef. They tasted really bad! The only good thing about this lodge is that it was right in front of a large mountain. We will not stay there again.

A unique experience for sure. I have never stayed anywhere like it. Very remote property, over 20 miles from the highway and the last 3 unpaved. Dark skies are outstanding although the main office building leaves its lights on all night frustratingly. Rooms are cozy, however the walls are paper thin and with no other sounds in this remote setting you can hear absolutely everything. Privacy is nonexistent. Bad Rabbit restaurant was delicious.Cold beers. Friendly staff. Opportunity for wildlife encounters. We saw a pack of 7 javelina come right up to our room. Needs a few more things to do on property as it is so far away from anything else. #1 would be a hot tub.
