My rating is based on the value. Clean room, safe environment, friendly staff, ample parking, very good price for NYC/LI. It’s not a five star, no, nor does it charge you for that. I’ve stayed here several times as a female solo traveler. You may feel tentative on a busy urban street if you’re not from a city but tucked around the corner is a really nice neighborhood and some great suburban like shops and eateries on Tulip, walkable.

On entering our room which was on the 3rd floor over the main entrance we were hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. The maids cart was in the hall so we asked for air freshener which temporarily took care of the smell. When we returned later that evening the smell returned, we believe it was the desk employee going outside under our window to take a cigarette break. Website states free breakfast. They no longer serve breakfast, only coffee and tea. Fortunately a short drive away was a beautiful bagel shop, Tulip Bagel. Also, I have to say that it was one of the most comfortable beds and pillows I have ever had at any hotel.
