We stayed in the Hillyard room. The room was nice, big, and clean. The bed was really uncomfortable for us. My husband and I are both side sleepers and did not sleep well at all. I was also disappointed that we were not connected to where the pool, bar, and the breakfast dining room was.

Surly, unhelpful, uninterested staff
Let's start with the very unfriendly and unhelpful staff at the Hayward Inn. One of their managers made it clear that by using an outside booking site, I was not entitled to the same level of service as their own direct bookings. Her repeated use of the phrase "you booked through a third party" made it clear that I was a second class guest in her opinion, and to contact "them" with any questions or problems. So take that Expedia - they hate you! Another front desk person took particular glee in informing me that the two prior front desk people were wrong, and that I had to check out and then recheck in to another room. The assistant GM then said maybe they had a "training opportunity". I'll say; the whole place could use some basic customer service training. Just stay away. There are better options in town, and I have never before experienced disdain for using hotels.com You would think my money would be as good as anyones.

Good if we had hot water!
The hotel has one new building then utilizes a previous hotel (much older) for a large portion of their rooms. Breakfast offering was comparable to other chain “hot breakfast” offerings. On second day of our stay there was no hot water, we let the front desk know right away in the morning. When we returned later in the evening, still no hot water. We called again and was told someone was coming 20 minutes because others had called as well. This was almost 12 hours after our first call. The next morning, no hot water. Made more frustrating due to a higher premium paid for the room because of the college football game. Front desk had no answer, no adjustments, just “sorry”,

Loved staying here for the ducks football game. Such an easy walk to the stadium and a good neighborhood right next to campus security. Was happily surprised when we found out the hotel had a bar and food during the evening. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Nice hotel, felt clean and safe, seemed fairly new. Easy to walk to the Matthew knight arena, even at night. Restaurants nearby. Room was nice, a little skimpy on the bedding I thought. I would stay here again for the convenience for sure.

The Hayward Inn was fine, but their Wi-Fi was terrible. I stayed there six nights and was never able to use my laptop in my room. I had to go to the lobby and it would only work there part time. I took my laptop to a computer shop and they said my laptop was fine, the problem was a weak Wi-Fi signal. If you need or want to use your laptop in your room the Hayward Inn is not the place to stay.
